What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

The only all aluminum one that was made for the Tacoma and is decent quality is KOYO (very good radiators) and I don't think they make it anymore.

 

I don't see why not! There would be decently good business with them because of everyone supercharging and putting turbo kits on their trucks! Sucks. What I can I temporarily use to seal that up until I swap radioators?

 

Most would suggest JB Weld, its very temporary though.

 

And my brothe in law ( very knowledgeable with cars) said I shouldn't use JB. I need something that will last at least a month perhaps!

 

Two day shipping from Amazon on a TYC radiator, has done well for me so far. The only other thing you could do that might last is use a plastic welder and the appropriate filler plastic.

 

Well I have the radiator from my 04 and it has held up good then I wrecked but it didn't get damaged just needs to be washed and sprayed out with compressed air as there is a lot of crap in the little aluminum pockets.

 

Then why does the other need to last for a couple months? Flushing you can do with the garden hose and the outside you should be able to clean up with some simple green (don't let it sit too long).

 

Not a couple months! If I'm gonna tear apart the front I'm gonna wait till I can do my winch and my front clip swap too! Might be able to this weekend. What's simple green lol feel like I ve heard of it but cant remember!

Just leave the grill off for a while, I had mine off the whole summer. The radiator only took me about an hour to replace. Also Simple Green is just a good cleaner/degreaser.

Mine cracked in the same spot. I think along with plastic age the culprit is the top hose straining at that point as things flex. Which brings up something I did and later changed...Buy OEM hoses. The aftermarket ones from Gates or whoever are not an exact fit, they create stress on the connections as the bends and curves are not the same.

 

I think that ECGS bushing helps. I just put it in myself. Very nice tolerances inside there compared to the OEM bearing assembly.

 

LOL it gets you hardcore wheeler brownie points if you roll around with the front in shambles. My side marker lights were just held in by the tiny side screws and a bungee cord going from one to the other, you don't have to worry about that because you have a newer grille style and lights.

 

My hoses are oem at least lol. might buy new ones.

Thanks guys! I'm lucky my dad knows alot about alot of things lol. I give alot of the credit to him and all his help! I'm learning from him and remembering everything he has taught me.

Holding up fine, super easy to clean. Only thing is that yes it keeps water on top but then it can easily flow to the side or and get under the vinyl. So having some kind of floor may that will hold water in is a good thing to consider.

But if you never in the situation were you have alot of snow or water on yours shoes then it's nothing to worry about.

And I think your correct on the price, maybe 150? Can't remember. Got it from auto custom carpets.

 

Pretty sure the 3vz radiators fit and are all aluminum. Someone here has done that.....can't remember who though.

 

The stock 3VZ radiator is copper and brass. Are there aftermarket all aluminum ones?
