Went to local Toyota dealer in Rochester NH today. They inspected my springs per recall. The determining factor is condition and number of spring clamps. This is the reason they are replacing or just signing off to Toyota. My springs failed the test on a 2010 DCSB OR. They ordered parts and will install new springs and hardware in about 10 days. Couldn't seem to get what the specs are on new springs.

Can you share a picture of your leafs to see the condition and number of clamps?

So the recall went from 'replacing the springs' to inspect inspect the springs '?
I thought the recall was to 'replace ' the springs. I didn't know that if they check out ok, you're all set.

I don't have a pic at the moment but I only have two spring clamps on the original non tsb springs. One at each end. There are 11 phases to the recall. 11 areas. New England seems to be first. They are also fixing trucks due to parts availability with the highest potential for catastrophic failure. No clamps to keep broken springs from hitting gas tank. Maybe in a later phase they re address but paperwork says failed inspection per code ssc eo2. Maybe trucks that had tsb are considered safer at this time. I got as much info as I could.

Thanks for the update. I live in New England. The last letter I got a few months ago said they were still preparing a remedy. I was at the dealer getting service a few weeks ago and they said the same.

I talked with the "scheduler" who took my info and said they'll call me when they have the parts.

    Cue sound of crickets chirping......

You guys should be getting new springs. Everyone who's had a frame replacement, got new springs with it. So, I would assume they're just waiting until all frames are done. I think next month is the deadline for frame inspections.

I had the TSB leaf springs installed when I bought it back in 07. The TSB springs gave my truck about 1" rake in the back. These new replacement springs? No.....my truck is level and it's driving me nuts!! LOL. Not as good as the TSB springs I had. They are 3+overload.

I spoke with a dealership in OKC last week, and they said the recall letters should start coming to Oklahoma trucks in May. Not sure if that's bs or legit. Just relaying what I heard.

So are they replacing only the leaf spring next to the fuel tank? My truck has horrible squeaking when suspension goes up and down but I've just wrote if off as noises from a 4wd truck.

Replacing both..... Both springs could break. The other side could break and (worse case & rare scenario) could come off the vehicle and break other things or even cause an accident.

New springs installed included spring saddles, ubolts, spring bolts, and shock bolts. Ride is stiffer than the original three leaf springs but ride is still good. Hub to fender is 22" both sides.20160226_160908.jpg 20160226_160908.jpg

I had an appointment with Woburn Toyota in Woburn, MA for an inspection. So then I called Ira Toyota in Tewksbury, MA. They had the springs in stock and did them on Tuesday. The ride quality was noticeable driving out of the dealer on original Bilstein shocks with 90k. Can't remember what the height was before... Sorry. But with new rear springs I ordered the OME 3" kit with aal's from Toytec

So I have a 2008. Just added a Leer topper. After less than a week sitting nose high. I don't have anything actually in the bed but have plans too, (Recovery and camping/bug out gear). My question is should I wait for the recall and get new leaf springs which might not fix the prob. Or just get a Dakar leaf pack? I tow house supplies couple times a month. This is for my TRD OR 2X4. Thanks in advance.
