    That's kinda awesome!! Just kinda makes it worthless when I do SAS unless I can get it to tuck up out of the Way so it does not get caught on things.

    Yea the hose is detachable so I believe I would just connect the hose whenever I do the oil change. SAS!!!! :yes:

    1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
    if its already in top just get a flip kit?

    It seemed like he though my perches were on the bottom side of the axle. ;)

    3 reasons, actually: first, last time I looked at the AP kit, their top plate didn't have the bends on the end which will both stiffen the plate and relieve stress concentrations on the spring at the plate ends. Second, I want to move my axle aft to center the tires in the wheel well. Third, those anti-wrap perches look trick...if they work. :cool:

    Also, unlike 2nd Gens, I have to weld new lower shock mounts to the axle regardless. The current lower mounts are part of the bottom U-bolt plate which is removed and tossed during the U-bolt flip.


    This basically is a ubolt flip kit for a 1st gen. ;) The perches aren't strictly necessary, but they will hopefully solve a couple other issues. Regardless, the lower shock mounts have to be welded on anyway. :thumbsup:

    Can't say u bolts and top plates really give you or affect axle wrap. That's all in your leafs and shocks. He should get a trac bar in that case

    Oh wow. I didn't know you were having issues messing up top plates and stressing the springs. By all means then. Never heard of that issue before my bad

    It's not the u-bolts and top plates that are doing anything about the axle wrap. The perches in the kit (they are actually called anti-wrap perches) are extra long so they have a little more support area along the spring. That should help a little, but yeah, I'm not expecting it to completely eliminate the wrap. It'd be cool if it did though. At any rate they will still let me relocate my axle so my fenders won't be eating my tires and vise-versa as much so whether they do or don't help with axle wrap as advertised it will still be worth it for the other reason.

    Haha, I don't have top plates ATM. I was just saying the design of the part is superior. The bends on the ends of the top plate make it stiffer so it won't flex as much when the u-bolts are tightened down or when the spring twists under articulation. And because the bends have a radius at the ends instead of a sharp edge, the spring will be less likely to fatigue and break there...not that it would be likely to happen, but it could.

    Mr. Engineer , can you back me up on that reasoning? :D
