I was wondering if my 2016 TRD sport without a lift will fit my summer wheels from my old tacoma. The set is 17x9 wheels and 265/70R17... Thanks

I'm just going to bump this to the bottom here since it was updated on the 1st post. Anyone running OME coils with Bilstein 5100's should start another thread to chart the experience with that setup. For not much more $$$$ you can get a recommended kit.

    ***Warning***
We are seeing posts in this thread recommending products for sale that are not listed by Manufacturers (Bilstien and Old Man Emu specifically) for the 2016 Tacoma.
Beware that using these incompatible parts will void your warranty from the manufacturers, in our testing OME coils did not provide the lift they do on models before 2016, these parts are not recommended for use by ARB/OME.

The factory coils on the 2016 Tacoma have a higher spring rate than any of the Old Man Emu coils (884, 885, and 886 specifically) listed for sale by some vendors here, therefore they will not give lift stated and will quickly sag and loose lift due to the lower spring rate.

We recommend calling manufacturers if they do not list a specific part for the 2016 and newer Tacoma, do Not assume any parts will work, as stated they are not the same suspension!

If you are installing coils assuming they will give you the same amount of lift on a '16 that they would on previous generations, you have not done your homework, or even read through the first few pages of this thread. Calling the OME parts "incompatible" is inaccurate. They are very compatible, and through user experience well documented on this site, people are aware that the OME coils will settle.

What is the rate on the OEM Tacoma coils (specifically the TRD Off-Road)? Higher than 590 lb.?

you need to read the first post on this thread, and the thread title for that matter. @Taco Luvr as Toytec was generous enough to start this thread and give tested options on lifting a 2016. The 5100's with OME coils NOT being an option. Hence why i was saying to start another thread with anyone using the 5100's and OME coils. Neither bilstein or OME will warranty replace parts on these kits that are using 5100's and OME coils. Can it be done, SURE. Does Toytec recommend it, NOPE. Does Bilstein or OME have this as a kit instead of piecing it together, NOPE. 2016 OEM tacoma coils well exceed 590lbs spring rate!!

Fair enough. And what is that spring rate? Do you have a number?

over 700lbs lets just say that. Every one wants to save money, i get that but if multiple manufacturers are not recommending this setup, or offering this setup for purchase, buyers have to decide to either listen or not. All I'm saying is if you want to go the 5100 and OME coils route, by all means do it but post the results in another thread, until either Toytec offers this setup after extensive testing or people decide this setup just isn't working.

What was the spring rate on the 2nd gen springs? Just curious. Is the 3rd gen that much heavier?

I drove on 3rd gen coils for 1500 miles. I'm not buying the 700 lb. rating.

I don't believe that nonsense one bit.

I have 600lb spring rate coils with 5100's on my Tacoma and achieved well over the 2 inches toytec said it would only get.
I got 3 inches of lift after install and now after 2 1/2 months and about 3,000 miles it has settled at around 2.75 inches of lift.

Curious to know where you got 700lb from. I've been looking for the 2016 spring rate and haven't been able to find anything.

A very reliable source did testing, I'd like to see 2nd gen and 3rd gen springs side by side so you all can see the difference.

@Teeko I can see you are a new member around here and you won't make many friends with that kind of speak.

If you must know the OP of this thread did testing on the 2016 spring rates!!

700 lb is bullshit. The 3rd gen Off-Road coils are squishy and roll way more than the 590 lb 885's I just installed.

With the 2016 weighing some more and having 1" higher suspension I wouldn't be surprised if the spring rate was a bit higher. Would still like to know where 700lb spring rate came from...
