Haha as much as I want to get some meatier tires, I can't really complain how mine performed. They do get pretty gummed up in the thick clay stuff but hey, other tires would have similar issues.

I love your truck; it's freakin' off-the-chain awesome, but I gotta be honest here. With miles more suspension travel and taller tires, your rig should be walking all over the OGT, but, for some reason, it's not happening. The only reason I can think of for this to be is the OGT has a slight edge in tread aggression which should be more or less mitigated by your taller tires. I really don't get it, to be honest. :notsure: There should be no way the OGT on 33s with 3.90 gears should be hanging with both you and Wes on 35s and lower gearing, much less doing a little better (granted this is at Citrus. At someplace like Hardrock, your SWB and ground clearance would give your rig a big edge over the OGT).

there aren't any obstacles big enough in Florida for it to walk all over the OGT. If you both did Gulches then the OGT would get stomped on

The Toddler (sorry, had to :D...gotta come up with a name for Todd's truck) would probably do a lot better than the OGT at Hardrock as well on certain obstacles there. Maybe not so much the hill climbs, but place like Slick Rock and the ledge I attempted over by the rock garden that put a dent on my transmission crossmember Todd could probably do where as I can't.

I see what you're saying it. My only defense for this is that it is still a fresh build, and still learning how to handle this thing (like this truck being a manual when all I've had before were automatics, way different/better/more capable suspension now, and possibly a little bit of a different driving style). I tend to try and creep up obstacles when I try them. It wasn't until Saturday night that I realized that the rain and the mud were going to need more throttle than I like :D. More seat time will help me but I will still agree, meatier tires would help quite a bit.

agreed, way different terrains. But then again, I've never wheeled outside of Florida or south Georgia so I would still be pussy-footing around Gulches or a similar place haha

If anyone should be told that they need new tires, it's you and not me :luvya:

I actually call my truck the "dipper" because it is small and can dip in and out of things like the woods, trees, and other vehicles .

Like I mentioned before I headed out of Citrus, we need to set up a Hard Rock meet/wheeling trip soon. I think my truck would fit in there well.

    Thanks!

There were actually two spots that really gave me the impression that your tires were letting you down. Both were on Saturday night after the rain. The first was at the trail 14 climbing area. The one climb you had to work to get up with liberal amounts of tire spin that I went up right after you and crawled it. The second instance was the slippery hill where you ended up having to put it in 4WD to go up. Chris (Alfuh) was evidently behind you and had to stop on the hill until you cleared it and then he said he went right up it with minimal or no spin on AT tires, 2WD, and an open diff. But, yeah, I can see your point about getting seat time in the thing to get a feel for how it's gonna act. I just thought you've got everything there to make the rest of us look ridiculous so it had to be the tires letting you down.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the Dipper or anything. It's an awesome machine. I'm just trying to figure out why the OGT is doing so good in comparison when it obviously shouldn't be, and the only edge she has that I can see is the aggressive tread of the tires.

I'd be right there...well...probably way behind you, actually. I'd be almost completely ignorant of how to drive in a place like that.

That kinda went without saying. A truck that has a 1000 lbs on the OGT ought to pull a lot harder than her. :D

The Dipper is is then. :D I might be up for a Hardrock trip in the fall, but there will probably be some folks that want to go before then.

I'm always down for out of state trips and/or hard rock.

Everyone will probably disagree with me but citrus is not at all the place to judge todds truck at whatsoever. Lockers do help but half the time they dig you in if there's no solid ground under you. We need to go to hard rock and climb some rock gardens first.

There's nothing technical at citrus just shit soup to drive through. Still fun though. My truck did get itself out of a high center there

Well damnit man, I'm out of excuses lol. Maybe next trip I will actually air down and see how much that helps. I didn't at Citrus, and am running about 30 psi in the fronts and 25 psi in the rears. I was assuming with the lockers that it wasn't really necessary, but hell... maybe it was :notsure:

That's too long to wait! It sounds like I will have to go soon and again in the fall :burnrubber:

I wouldn't normally think so either. I only aired down the fronts because my CVs seem to break less often when I'm aired down. I was running 29 in the rear, 15 in the front. Airing down does help though. Even if it just makes the ride smoother on the trails.

Damn, sorry, man. I just need to quite beating on the OGT until I get her right. Plus I want to get a trans skid before I go back to Hardrock. It's kinda closing the barn door after the horses already got out, but maybe it'll keep me from totally destroying my transmission crossmember. I have a whole list of crap I need to take care of before I take her out again, not the least of which is to figure out why the LCA cams keep moving on their own. (#IFSproblems) :p

No joke you saw how my tires were pulling. Sunday I aired back up.and ended up airing back down. I almost sunk my rear trying to get going pulling @Atskune out. It was crazy. One hill I had to hit hard due to being fulL psi. Got a real nice scratch on my bed because I had to back down the hill 2x
