With all of the talk about transmission and vibration issues, I think it's a good idea to see how many are having them.

I'm just leaving the dealership now after bringing it in for the vibration issues. Of course, I'm getting the same outcome as others with the dealerships saying "its normal operation". Hope others vote on this thread to see how prevalent this is.

Glad to see this, there was a similar poll a few months back that hasn't gotten any activity now for a while. This is the only issue holding me back from purchasing and have been waiting since I test drove one at the beginning of October. Interested to see how many people are affected.

I've been a long term lurker and I have finally elected to join. I have a 16 AC TRD Sport with towing package and when I picked it up I had the infamous trans jerkiness, it has somewhat diminished but its still here and you never know when it will act up. The vibration issue popped up at 141 miles. I had just pulled into a parking lot and I noticed a faint vibration in the steering wheel. Now at 713 miles, the seats vibrate along with the steering wheel. What I did notice is that once the faint vibrations started, it seemed the exhaust is now a little louder, so I wonder if there is something with the muffler/cats that has broken loose and the vibrations are resonating back to the motor? I've had the infamous dry ujoints, and I am going to check my spring plates on the back axle to make sure they are tight, Ive had a couple of weird noises from the rearend. What makes me mad is that I sold a 2001 Mazda B4000 for this thing. Even with 117,000 on the clock never got vibrating steering wheel or seats. If it wasnt that the truck was really starting to rust, I'd still be driving it. I hope someone finds a solution.

As of right now (540 mi) I only feel it in the gas pedal...the same as others = between 1800/2200 rpm. it feels like an old 4 cyl car at the end of it's life.
It does seem to be getting slightly better and by no means have I felt it in the steering wheel or seats. That would just suck!
I have found that if I push through the rpms 2200 or lay off just before 1800, it's not nearly as bad.
The "hunting for gears" feeling as it was stated in one thread seems very appropriate to describe it.

Im not sure if this is the same vibration you are all talking about, but i seem to get a vibration in the driver floor board every 8-10 seconds... Like a pulse almost. I was gonna wait till my first service to get it checked, maybe bad disc or wheel bearing. ( not sure ) any ideas would help! My passengers side is fine. Had my gf drive while i sat there today.

Maybe a poll should be started for the howl/control arm noise issue as ammunition to get a tsb from yota. ( i would but i dont know how)

So far about 60% of pollers are NOT having issues. Let's get some more feedback.

I wish the odds were better, but I just can't commit to ordering until I know for sure I won't be getting a truck that needs to go back in for a major TSB/recall - especially for an issue I knew about ahead of time.

I have a vibration that I caused (CV bearing) by lifting it. My trans doesn't have any issues per se, but I don't care for the programming.

Called the dealer today to get this checked he told me it was caught at the factory before the canadian production started, and that the americans were guinea pigs. I said ok well lets check mine. If your so certain its not low i will pay to have it checked, if it is low you write up a ticket for toyota under warranty and cover it. Dealer says fine. about 2 hours later and 60$ the level was fine, 1 less thing to worry about.

Just to be clear....it just feels...coarse..rough at that rpm...like you can feel the engine through the pedal/steering wheel. Not as refined and engine is noticeable louder during this noise..

Is this what everyone else is feeling?..

One thing to note - it seems only trucks with the towing package, therefore increased capacity of atf, have the issue. The vibration at least from what I can tell is a separate issue.

during my test drive I was surprised at both the sound of the engine - much louder than I was expecting, and the vibration definitely felt as you mentioned coarse, very metal on metal buzzing feeling.

Best I can describe this on mine is a buzzing vibration that emanates through the steering wheel, gas pedal, and floorbed when the engine works through 2,100-2,300 RPMs. Sometimes it manifests at 1,800 RPMs. Mine feels like having your hands and foot on a powerful electric razor or mini-sanding machine. It's strong. And the engine does sound very course and loud in the same ranges. For the first few hundred miles it was mild, like a very slight, light humming sensation few would probably notice. But it worsened the more miles I put on it. Now the buzzing causes dash and door components to vibrate audibly. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck getting this issue addressed. Toyota told me this was a "normal design characteristic" and apologized that I "didn't like it." I downsized from a Tundra and never felt anything like this. Has me quite perplexed and frustrated because I like this truck otherwise.

I have an intermittent 'clunk when decelerating and the automatic trans goes from 2nd to 1st gear. Was very prominent when hard breaking, and now has seemed to have subsided. Tech at dealership went on a test drive with me and I could not for the life of me reproduce the issue, and they were very insistent about not checking the trans fluid level. Problem stopped for a while, then did it again yesterday just once on my way home from work. My truck is a TRD Sport 4x4 DC auto.
