Much less? The JBL system adds ~$600

    More like double

I'd rather not have a new truck interior torn apart, but to each their own.

Again, the JBL only cost 700. Well with it in my opinion.

The JBL system is only $700 more. With the P&T you also get moon roof, BSM, Climate control, heated seats and more.....

Thankfully I love the JBL system and have no need for anything more. I would not have purchased the truck without the JBL option, after hearing it in a lot truck.

I agree with BurritoTeller. wasn't shopping for it but after looking at the numbers its a pretty easy call if you want the other extras. I did so it works out well.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Don't forget you were talking to a salesman..
You could spend 10k on a system and it not smoke it, if it isn't installed and tuned properly etc.
JBL system sounds pretty good for 700 or whatever it is for upgrade.

To me it's worth it to have a fully integrated system without having my wiring hacked and door panels removed (they always rattle afterwards). JBL is good enough for me at 55. 20-30 years ago maybe not so much.

Okay . . . I must admit, I am very ignorant when it comes to this audio stuff, so please be patient with me. I'm reading a lot about JBL, and gather that some models have JBL installed and others don't. I have a 2010 Dbl Cab . . . I assume I do not have JBL (I'll check tomorrow). What I do know is that my truck has the original factory stereo and I want to replace it with a new stereo that has bluetooth, USB, iPhone compatible, etc. I don't want to replace all my speakers . . I just want a new unit so that I can listen to the music on my phone and talk handsfree . . . any suggestions? I've been looking at a few stereos on Crutchfield.com. Thx.

You are in the wrong forum but Crutchfield is the way to go if you're going to install on your own. They provide all the wiring harnesses, trim pieces, and instructions which make installation a no brainer.
If not, take it to a car audio shop and have them guide you for what is best.

It sounds like you are pretty lost when it comes to audio and forums.

Honestly, Just take it to the closest, best reviewed car audio shop and talk with them

I wonder if the dealer can add JBL option? It would seem like they could. (Since you can't get factory JBL with a manual transmission ). My salesperson said "no" but I wonder if she's right.

Cost was a big factor for me.
As such I have the oem unit and am very happy.
Bluetooth music streaming works very well and the sound quality is quite good for the bottom end system.

No way my accountant would let me spend more $ on a truck.

I'll give you my 2 cents... My FJ had the stock unit, base model with no frills. I went with an Alpine deck because it had bluetooth, not as cool as the JBL for phone integration but it worked well for hands free calls and with the stock speakers it really sounded pretty good once I dug into the 10band equalizer. Stock speakers are typically very efficient and don't need a ton of wattage to sound good. If you put in really nice speakers then you need an amp... so you're on the right track. Get a head unit that is higher wattage and you should be happy with the sound. I would find a car audio place that will let you pair your phone to the units so you can see how they work. Good luck!

what is needed to hook up an aftermarket amp to the stock 2016 entune headunit?

Replaced the stock speakers with Hertz and added 2 hertz tweeters. Will be way more to come.
I took the factory JBL out of my 2016 TRD off-road and replaced with Hertz 6.5 and tweeters. Without a doubt worth it. Sounds 100 times better.

So you simply swapped out the 4 speakers? Were they plug n play? Or did you need any adapters? I love the sound of my JBL package but if I can make it even better simply by replacing some speakers....I'm all ears!

Why in the world would you make your decision based on what speakers the truck has? Seems like the last thing you should worry about, but then again I actually use my trucks
