I went to troubleshoot 4wd system, they looked at front diff and told me that its leaking oil like crazy from the pass side (extension tube), and as a reason they told me that it could be either cracked or bearing is screwed up so axle leaves plenty of room for oil to drain out.

For those wondering how that gets affected by frame swap... in order to swap the frame they have to remove front diff, in order to remove front diff both cv axles needs to be removed, and to remove CV axle one needs to dislodge CV from diff so C clip holding axle in place pops out from the grove, in order to do this somebody needs to put like craw bar between CV and front diff casing and pop out that sucker, so its possible they cracked front diff, or at least screwed up seal.
Bottom line neither is covered by frame swap warranty. Another excellent lesson learned about Toyota quality...:annoyed:

Its going to be -8 F for couple nights so no crawling under the truck, so I am going to park it for next couple weeks until I can investigate. My hope is that only thing they f-ed up is just a seal and bearing, that would be easy fix with $50 in parts.

I like how they claimed its not from frame swap in the meantime truck was perfect before swap and suddenly all problems crop out..
For now back in my CRV... :frusty:

If it stays cold and I have all the parts I may take a to guys who do my emissions, With FSM they should be able to get that swapped pretty easily.
Most likely route. I just need to collect all the parts.

    So, a few points.

    1) You're literally explaining to us how they messed up your truck, and then you're claiming that they won't cover it under warranty? If there was no issue before the swap, and now there is an issue, and you can prove that they messed with the item in question, then they're wrong and it should be covered. Your dealer is just a vessel for Toyota - they make recommendations, but Toyota is their 'mothership'. Call corporate, take pictures, and start a case. Document everything. You're just laying down and taking this.

    2) Your one single situation of a crappy dealer (likely one tech that did your frame swap) does not speak negatively on Toyota's quality in any way, shape, or form, although making snide comments may make you feel better about it. Toyota is the best selling automotive manufacturer in the world for a reason. I have driven them around the world, including in some very sucky situations, and nothing else comes close realiability-wise. You ran into a sucky tech and a sucky dealership - go to another dealership or get with corporate.

    3) I understand you're frustrated, brother. I would be, too. We're all trying to help out, but you have to push back against these guys or else they'll tell you all day that no subsequent problems 'aren't covered by the warranty'.

Blue T, serious question: Why don't you just get a new truck?

    I personally wouldn't stick with a vehicle I didn't trust anymore.

To answer your points about calling Toyota Corporate..

"DRM Declined recommended maintenance" is official Toyota corporate answer to my problem... I never expected frame swap to go with out a problem but expected Toyota to man up to crap.
This is happening in most inconvenient time for me. I dotn have time to deal with them, so local shop will look at my truck.. I am going to ask them to document what they find, and just fix whatever is broken..
Toyota reliability at this point is for me is complete BS, at this point my Tacoma had the same amount of problems that my Ford had in 10 years of ownership, and fixing Ford was way cheaper than Tacoma. I have Toyota "luxury" truck, and that crap is not that much better, our fuel door last year rip off because hinge rusted  that was nice repair in body shop.
Toyota cars are OK cars but not that much better than Ford or GM. I like Tacoma because its nice truck but I find that reliability isn't that much better than domestic.

Whats funny is that after I dropped my truck I was looking to replace my wife's truck, and get my self a commuter. So that's two cars Toyota won't sell this year.
Stupid $11 oil seal on front differential costed them profit on two vehicles, way to do business  Toyota.

I won't lie... I like the Colorados. The diesels are a game changer, but I was worried about the emissions stuff.

Also would like to know what you end up with. If you have enough faith to stick out your Tacoma another couple years I would wait till the ranger comes out.

I know you had troubles with your Tacoma but I think that on a large sample they are pretty darn reliable. I am always amazed when I see the high mileage threads and see how few repairs they have had. Any way around I am not brand loyal so Toyota is getting this one chance with me, if it does turn out to be a pile of crap I'll probably end up in a ford next time around.

A game changer if you are willing to spend 40k on a midsize pickup, which I know many here are. If I were going to drop that much it would be on a half ton.

From a business standpoint they are very together. They aren't going to pay for the capacity to supply the first year of rush just to have it used at a portion of capacity for the following years.

Me too, I like the fact that Colorado does have rear discs (its 2016 toyota people, keep up with the rest of Civilized World), I like the fact that you can put snow chains on the front tires with out ripping suspension to pieces, and I do like a fact that despite claims of low clearance, Colorado have pretty flat underside (perfect for easy skid plates)...

Gasoline engine feels slightly worse than 1GR (Chevy does gear hunting from time to time) but its way better than what is in new Tacoma.
Would I buy Gasoline Chevy Colorado yes if my choice was limited to 2016 Tacoma and Chevy.
Would I buy Diesel Colorado over Tacoma... hell yes. I dont worry about Diesel emissions. Particle filter is the same device as catalytic converter except does not have some crazy metals in it. So catalytic converters are more likely to fail than particle filter. Urea injection is the same idea as air injection that is now installed on gasoline engine but Urea is easier to fix. Its a pump hookup to timer.

One can never have too many light bars.
Hold out to see if ford drops that 2.7 turbrah in the new ranger.

Well local shop installed new CV seal, ( I am crying the fact that it was not me doing this but yesterday was -12F) and Toyota tech must have full retard day because CV axle does not have "a lot of play" as it was written in justification to replace front diff. His head was lose ...
So new seal, fresh gear oil and we will see.
Stupid stealership trying to rip people off.

EDIT: Oh and old seal looked like crap, so yeah dumb ass Toyota broke my truck when they did frame swap.
