That is where I originally got the idea for building one before purchasing an Arkpak... and I am actually still going to build said battery pack...cause why not have a 2nd one just because...

Personally I like the portability of the Arkpak and the ability to move the fridge over to the table/"kitchen" area this is to power lights as well as the fridge itself. I have a Deka Group31 AGM 110AH battery in mine and running Fridge *Edgestar 63qt* (during the day/afternoon 5-7 hours a day)and 8 Goalzero Light-A-Lifes (Version 1) for probably 4-5 hours a night. I can get probably about 2.5 days out of my battery life, with no recharging. I just recently acquired a solar panel so hopefully it can run indefinitely.

Anyhoo here is a list I was putting together of things I needed to build the 2nd battery pack.

    http://amzn.com/w/WMH4HYFAQELD

*Note* You will not need a 30A solar charger with a 100W panel. (I happen to have a 327W panel already which is why I need the 30A). Everything else I need for the build I already have. So please look at the ExpoPortal link for more info.

Anyone that has more questions can PM me as I don't want to clutter the GB thread.

I built my own Arkpak because I wanted something that I could move between the two vehicles that I had. I wanted an Arkpak but I couldn't see paying that much for something like that so I made one that worked great.

Here is the link to the one I built: http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/tech-articles-staging-area/296850-my-powerpack-build.html

    I recently purchased a Goal Zero Yeti 400: http://www.goalzero.com/p/165/goal-zero-yeti-400-solar-generator

Along with the Yeti I have 2x Goal Zero solar panels that I plan to use at the campsite.

Have you used your homemade arkpak with a fridge before? I love the build, its a lot more cost efficient and and simple. Do i need to purchase the inverter still if its just being used for this fridge?

Well I got some bad news and good news....

Bad news is there will be no fridge in my immediate future :(

Good news is there will be a SAS in my future sooner rather then later!!:bananadance:

In other news I have a brand new waeco cover if any one wants to buy it from me.

Im trying to make the same decision between duals and arkpak. Leaning toward arkpak because of the mobility. Being able to run the fridge away from the vehicle is a great benefit. Sometimes i find myself camping away from my vehicle and having to "rough it" without my RTT. So still being able to use the fridge at those times would be great.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on an arkpak, I wonder if you, myself and @ffdawson all got in on one order if we could save some $ on shipping.

I've never used a fridge with it but here is a list of things I used:
    -Goal Zero light
    -Water boiler
    -Heated blanket
-Used it to charge my laptop/cellphone several times

I would suggest getting an inverter because it allows you to use it with more equipment.

The only downside to this setup that I saw was the battery it self. The box that I used to house the battery is smaller than the ArkPak. While the ArkPak is more, it would allow you to use a bigger battery and that's more power.

I'm really considering an ArkPak now as well simply for the ability to move it away from the vehicle if needed.

I'd possibly be in on a ArkPak GB...

I like the way you think.

After doing some research I'm leaning towards the 730, only because if there's anything TW has taught me, it's that you should ALWAYS buy the biggest, best, most expensive option, or else you will suffer.

Lol. No seriously, I want the 730. Moar power=better.

My only hangup is a few crappy reviews from customers online, citing failures and lousy customer service. I PM'ed @Baoser for a review, and maybe if you have a chance to reply, just reply publicly here, there seems to be a desire for the info.

So, Arkpak GB up next? The only thing is, I don't want to wait 2 months for that shit to go down, I hope to purchase these items simultaneously, and be chilling beers trailside ASAP!

Also, one question I have yet to have answered, my limited knowledge of electrical terminology might be to blame... Does the Arkpak have a "regular household plug" (120?) to plug it into the wall for re-charging? And if so, would it be possible to plug it into the stock outlet in the back of my Truck and charge while driving, meanwhile have it plugged into the fridge, keeping my beer cold.

This is my game plan. Can anyone tell me if it's possible?

Remember that this thing could weigh close to 70 pounds with food. Not sure how much lugging around you'll do. And think you're moving a group 27 battery with it, not too mention removing the tie-down...that's a lot of hoofing that a cheap cooler can take care of and might be worth brining as well.

I looked at portable power extensively and the question I had to answer was how portable does the power need to be, really? The arkpak seems to have a decent brain inside of its battery box, but after buying and moving my battery twice, that sucker is staying in the truck and I'll run a long cable to it if I need to!

For me, with the exploring off-road, I need a secure 12 v and more importantly it needs to be double strapped down. Like a battery. I was on one trip where the battery was strapped down to a spare tire that turned out not to be strapped down. One decent pothole in the rear end and milk and olive oil and Coke became one.

I just think this fridge needs to be thought of like an rv fridge, not a beer cooler.

    My .02

This post is relevant to my interests:D. Need to do a little more research, but will likely be looking to purchase next month.

Depending on the timing this could be cool.

After doing some thinking this is sort of how I feel too.
Do I really need a portable power pack? Batteries are heavy, so is the fridge. If I can't camp with my truck then I'll think I'll just pack a cooler with some ice packs. I can always set the fridge to a freeze temperature and swap out the ice packs as needed.
