Hi guys i just signed up here looking for some help. I'm 30 years old and live in canada. I'm looking at possibly buying a 2015 taco. V6 double cab trd. Sticker price on the lot is about 38,000. This is my first time buying a new vehicle on my own. How can i get the best price? What would you offer and settle on for a final price? Any help would be helpful! Don't want to get screwed.
    Thanks guys! !

I recently paid $1700 under invoice. Dealer had 30 double cabs in stock though. Find a dealer with a large inventory of 15's and you'll get a better deal. Wanted a lb but they are rare and dealers know that and won't budge as much. Good luck.

To me, the biggest trick a dealer tries to pull is negotiating a payment rather than a price. This will always work out in their favor, especially if you have a trade. They'll make the payment price look better by tacking on a few months without lowering the price.

If you have a trade, go get a quote from somewhere, anywhere, first. Go in there armed with that, but don't tell them what it is or where it is from. Get them to offer your trade first, then go into the sale price of the truck. Be ready to go to 2 or 3 different dealers if you can, and tell them you will be doing so. They don't want you to walk out the door.

Don't be afraid to walk out the door. They will always let you back in. It's ok to take a few hours or a day to think about it. Since its your first purchase, I recommend this, because there is always a lot of info to digest.

I would cross shop as many dealers as possible within driving distance and as others have said be willing to walk. Use KBB.com, Edmunds.com or whatever equivalent to learn the value of your trade then research the invoice total for the vehicle you want to buy. Get preapproved for financing at a credit union or bank so you know the interest rate you can expect to pay. Then decide how much difference you are willing to pay and negotiate with several dealers until you get what you believe to be the best price.

Sounds like a lot of work but can save you substantial money.

    In development!
Bought mine through my credit unions buyers program. Ordered exactly what I wanted, printed invoice, dealer called the next day that had the right truck in stock and went in and picked it up. Buyers programs are awesome. Pre negotiated prices, no haggling.

    Go to this site http://www.unhaggle.com/
Determine the invoice pricing and negotiate from there. You should never have to pay full MSRP unless the vehicle is in high demand. Toyota.ca has a $2000 incentive so be sure to work that into the pricing as well. When I deal with sales I always offer an "all in" price, meaning that is the final price you pay. Let them figure out what admin fees, levies and BS they want but it all has to work within that all-in offer. Most dealers should be willing to deal on 2015 Tacomas, the 2016 is already here and I'm sure they want to rid themselves of previous stock. How many Toyota dealers do they have in Saskatoon? I would go to at least several, some may be more willing to negotiate than others. I hear that dealing around the end of month is a good time as well. Good luck with your search!

Oh and one more thing, make sure you have everything in writing as in the offer sheet. Don't ever take their word for anything. If you make a deposit to hold a vehicle, $500-1000 will suffice. It should also be fully refundable if things don't work out.

I bought my 2015 for $3000,off the sticker price, and they gave me $18,500 for my 2011 Ranger. That was from a dealer an hour away in Syracuse,NY. My local dealer was only taking $1700 off sticker and giving me $18,000 for the Ranger. Both trucks were almost identical, sticker were off by $100.

I did yes. Picked up a 2015 tacoma sport. Double cab long box in magnetic grey. Got a little below sticker price plus taxes.

What was the actual discount? I bought mine from Ens a couple years ago and had to fight to get $1000 off.

This is the best advice so far on this thread and reflects what I do when shopping for a vehicle.

Make sure the dealer understands your offer by saying" so we have a deal, I hand you a check for $xxx and I drive the truck away, no additional dealer fees, taxes, etc. this is the final out the door price? If they agree get it in writing right then and you are good.

We only have one Toyota dealership in Saskatoon. A couple more within an hour drive or so but in smaller towns with limited selection.
I wish this was how things worked here! Basically you pay MSRP or GTFO. They told me that Tacoma's sell so well that they have no reason to offer discounts. I walked out 3 times before giving in. Even threatened to go buy a Frontier from Nissan (bluffing obviously) and they didn't care at all. All said and done they gave me $1000 off sticker price (which is the discount they offer for cash sales. I financed) They also gave me $1000 (not much of a deal, I know) for the stock wheels and tires cause I upgraded to the TRD Baja wheels and BFG AT's at dealership price. But they kept the full size spare cause I ended up buying 5 wheels so I could put one in the box. I wanted to keep it for winter weight and cause im not strapping a $700 wheel under my truck to be eaten away by salt.

$1700 under invoice, seems a bit too good to be true.
