Neither one of us really have a desire for kids. We already own a house and our cars are more or less paid for (both of us owe less than $2k on them at this point). We've had the discussion about marriage a few times, but since what we're doing now is working for us we don't see a need to change things.

Both of us have seen some pretty nasty drag-out divorces on both sides of our families, and have friends that have gotten married and had their relationships go to hell. So we're not really in a hurry to sign the contract, lol.


Edit- I think I posted pictures of us a couple of weeks ago, actually. One from 2004 and one from this New Year's...

 

Good for you both! If it's working, no need to change things. Especially by adding that "label" to it. Kudos to you and her sir!

I agree with both of you but really if they are the right one than nothing should change. My wife and I are going to married for almost 9 years and things are the same for us. Both of us only feel we are the same as before but we just have some more benefits than before we were married. Since we married we have also had 2 great little ones.

 

In my case it wasn't viable, due to her age of 41 when we met.

 

Her younger sis and now husband were together 15 yrs prior. What changed their minds was he got very ill and was in an induced coma for 2-3 days before having time to sign paperwork so she could make decisions for him.
