I want to know this as well. Instead of piecing a system together, would be nice to get it all at once. I'm getting the rims as well if they are in fact 16".

at some point people who use their pro's like they should might need to get their skid replaced. So I don't see why it can't be bought separately

I'm seriously considering selling my 2012 TRD Sport and getting this.

I was thinking the same thing while watching it! I mean, really? My '16 Sport TRD 4x4 isn't capable? Ridiculous. I don't have crawl control or a locking rear differential and still think any 4WD Taco would be fine. The most important piece of equipment in that equation on a trip like that is the person behind the wheel. You could have the most ridiculously spec'd out truck for that trip and some douche behind the wheel with crappy judgement that doesn't know how to drive in those conditions and you'll be screwed. Also, I'd rather have some amazing dedicated winter tires for the drive over all the added, extra, unnecessary crap that the TRD Pro has. If you really wanted to impress me, take that thing to the desert and beat the hell out of it. Driving a TRD Pro in the cold and on snow covered roads is NOT impressive. A Subaru with AWD and winter tires would be a much better performer for that trip over the Tacoma TRD Pro!

What cracks me up is all the guys that are saying they'd kill for one of these, will trade in their'16's, etc. It's basically all show no go, or at least a lot of it is. I don't know crap about off-roading, but I bet the real off-road guys are just laughing at people who will buy one on these because they know they could probably spec out a 'lower end' model with better aftermarket parts for much less $$$ and it be a much better performing vehicle. I wonder how many TRD Pro's I'll be seeing in the Costco parking lot next year without a spec of dirt on them!

Again, what was the point of taking what Toyota considers a flagship off-road vehicle and driving it in snow supposed to tell us?! I don't see Subaru doing commercials where they are taking their vehicles wheeling in the desert?! I guess what I'm discovering with the Tacoma crowd is it's all about how it looks over anything else. They want to look like a badass, but not many even use the vehicle for what it's designed for.

Put a factory supercharger on it and I might think about it. That little 3.5 liter doesn't do it for me.

Too much glow and no go. I think anyone who wants to and knows how can build a far more capable off road Tacoma than that Pro'

IMO It's all about aesthetics. Unless Toyota gets smart and does not sell parts to non owners, anyone can build that truck aesthetically for likely $5000.

But I get it. Some people have to have something few others can get...which is why people still insist on paying MSRP for the Tacoma line.

ITs a nice truck indeed. But a sucker's play well over $40K. I saved a quote for a Limited 4x4 for $36665 OTD.....Wonder how much more to turn that into a Pro? $4000? Grill, Lamps, Skid plate, Wheels. People spend a ton more to make a fully capable off road Tacoma that would out perform that OR and gets far more peer respect because they built it and did not buy it.

I agree with some of your points. Personally don't need leather seats or "Pro" emblem poser stuff. And the entire '16 line is truly capable of getting the job done. But having once been a Subaru owner, disagree thinking a Sub can outpreform Taco on that road trip, aside from perhaps saving mpg.
Having driven a '15 Pro, it truly was a game changer in oem off-roading or any road for that matter. For the 17's direction with specific improvements to the intake, exhaust, and fox suspension; imagine it's going to be outstanding. Price tag's gonna suck though.
And yes, I'm very happy with sticking with my '16 and eventually upgrading exhaust and intake from Trd next year. Already swapped for '15Trd Pro Bilstein suspension and well worth a $1600 upgrade after selling the stiffer, less forgiving Or Oems.

No doubt you can build a better and more capable off road truck.

It bugs me how they call it a PRO, and make it seem like it's such a special truck, but it really isn't at all.

IMO, they need to give it more power or STFU.

Most manufacturers make special editions of their current models with more power. Ford has the Raptor. I'm sure those assholes at Chevy have something special. Look at the Audi SQ5. Even Mercedes has a 577 horsepower WAGON.

I'm so tired of Toyota being so F'ing boring. Gimme a 350 HP Tacoma, and I'll be all over it like stink on a monkey.

"Courtesy of TRD, the new Tacoma TRD Pro will add an array of new performance equipment and features"

    Where???

    "Extreme Exterior for Extreme Performance"

Really?? How exactly does anything they did with this amount to "extreme performance"?

I don't think it will be much over 40k if at all. Dealer markups will bring it over that but I can't see them pricing it over the Tundra TRD Pro and it starts at 42k. There are not many options for the TRD Pro series so the pricing doesn't go up that much. You can get a brand new Tundra TRD Pro in the 45-50k region. The 4Runner TRD Pro starts at 41k and at most you're looking 45k. Like I said, dealers are going to mark these things up like crazy and people will pay but I don't see them being the 45-50k like some people are saying.

And for people that are saying you can build a better truck for cheaper...I am sure you can. This truck is not for people that want to build their own truck. This is for someone that wants a truck that is already somewhat built for them and is more capable than the other trucks you can buy off the lot. . The same goes for the Raptor. You can build a better off road truck based off the F-150 if you have the time and skills or you can buy one that is better than everything else in the segment.

BINGO we have a winner....I view the Pro as an accessorized Sport/OR. What would make it real is more power, power seats, and things I could NOT get on mine simply by buying parts. Frankly a "Franken Pro" would look foolish. Toyota should require a VIN number to sell Pro Parts so at least those who paid the entry fee and want to be exclusive can be. Cement is not enough. It looks like a dirty white or sun bleached Silver.

Real truck builders and off road types will understand that.
Those who want bragging rights or "exclusion at the get go" will get ripped a new asshole when they see the bottom line. But they are "payment buyers" and another $60 a month for seven years means nothing.

A TRD-Off Road DCSB 4x4 with Premium and Tech package is already approaching 40k. The Pro doesn't have the sun-roof but does seem to have the other premium & tech features and looks like it has JBL based on the interior picture. Then add markups for upgraded wheels, grill, fox shocks, leather seats plus that shiny little TRD Pro emblem on the side and you're looking at a good bit of spare change. You might find one for 40k after it's been sitting on the lot for a year.

TRD PRO-seur. It would have been better to make one without power and electronic everything, just a basic truck fitted with good suspension and tires. Companies like Porsche charge more for stripped-down track cars, so I bet Toyota could do it as well.

Unless they do their pricing different from the other in the TRD Pro series I don't see huge markups. I would guess that starting price will be somewhere in the 36-38 with a MSRP of 39-40. This is just based off of how they priced the other TRD Pros. The TRD Pro series doesn't have extra packages since they are the package. The way it should be looked at is a package for the Off Road. The mark up will only be 1-2k over the top priced Off Road.
