Picked up a ARB dual compressor and manifold kit. For those who were wondering, it fits like a glove behind the air box on Tacoma's without the Antilock system in that location. Fab'd a mount to utilize the three studs on the fender well. The manifold bolts up to existing holes on the fender wall. Just waiting on a switch from AirOnBoard to wire it up. Happy with the results.

Cool stuff, when I saw the studs there I too was thinking of an arb compressor. Good to see someone did it, you mind putting up measurements for that adapter you built?

If I ever have the need to take it out, I'll take some measurements. Used 3/16 mild steel plate. From what I remember, the bottom plate attaches level to the ground on the forward 2 studs. The distance from the bottom of that plate and bottom of the lower third stud is 1.562 inches. I built a U shaped section to lower the attachment point of the rearward third stud then plasma cut clearance on the plate to allow access to the nut during install. The risers between the attachment plate of the compressor and the plate mounted to the truck is 2". The top plate ended up perfectly level. Hope this helps

That's where I put mine as well, just the single compressor though.

Nice :) Glad to see they left that spot open. That's where mine is mounted on my 2nd Gen too.

    Just the basics
Oh man that makes me happy. I have my 2nd battery in that spot for my 2nd gen. Not sure if it would fit in the 3rd gen but I don't plan on upgrading for quite a few years.

Are you using this for a locker? Or just for filling your tires? Or some other use?

I was looking at that location for a second battery, it's big enough for that purpose. I noticed the ARB SEMA truck had mounted their compressor on the drivers side behind the fuse box though they used the single compressor. Not sure I want to give up flexibility of a second battery setup to house the double compressor....

For now, filling tires and running occasional air tools. I might explore a front air locker in the future.

I'm planning on the dual battery system with two yellow tops right next to each other in the stock location. By my measurements, I can make that work.

Good to know thanks. I haven't sat down and planned the detail yet, that was just my initial thoughts. Are you fabbing your own tray or do you someone who has designed a specific one for the Gen 3?

Forgive my ignorance, but are these compressors designed to handle the heat associated with residing in the engine compartment?

I haven't bought or installed one yet, but if ARB is installing theirs under the hood of the truck, I think it's safe to say that they can handle the temps in the engine compartment.

I haven't seen anyone selling a tray for the 3rd gen, so I'll probably end up fabricating one.
