Understood, but this is the one I'm talking about. Seems to be a physical plate/cover that snaps in place.

Oh that thingy, without having an open bumper I'm not sure I could get that on with ease.

V8 or a diesel and I'll consider a 3rd gen. Now a 5th gen 4Runner Pro in cement Would be a nice DD, maybe in the future when I'm not nearly buying another vehicle in mods

Why are you worried about miles... i could understand if it was built up enough to be a trail rig but its still pretty tame. Unless you mean mpg but imo thats just part of the the cool truck

I've already got damn 20k on it and it's just a year old. Just don't want to rack up miles on it just driving to work

At 20k a year the truck should easily last ten years assuming a 200k mile life which we all know they go past that. Just saying even without driving it less these trucks last a damn long time. I wouldnt worry about a mileage number

I'm not really just like having a DD so I can keep miles off truck if I want. Does that even make sense?

Almost there, this year is looking to be a slow one so I probably won't add that many this year. I was on track to likely hit 100k this year but I'm guess 75k by end of year. I need to start driving our accord more so I can have a better reason to sell it

Only way I'd get a 3rd gen is if they offered a diesel.

Yeah for a daily driver I'm looking at buying a Subaru Cross Trek XV toward the end of this year, but I might hold out to see if Toyota brings out a diesel in the Tacoma for 2017. Even if it's the D4D, I'd buy a diesel prerunner.

Thats my preferred option but not against a V8, More power/torque in general would be nice.

Cross treks are cool, always loved a flat 4 engine. Thats my goal is to have a nice DD by the end of year, Id like to have the truck paid off before I take on another payment but we will see

I don't think they'll ever put a V8 in the Tacoma. With the direction most of the manufactures are going, turbo V6, Turbo diesel and hybrid, I think we would be more likely to see a Diesel Tacoma. Chevy put the ball in Toyota's corner when they came out with the diesel Colorado and Canyon. It looks like Nissan might be stepping up too. Toyota can't afford to sit on the sidelines another year if the others come out with diesel midsize trucks.
