We'll see. I only have 19k on it right now and "most" of those have been traveling back and forth to Colorado.

Yeah I clean my truck front to back underneath when I change the oil, rotate the tires, and rear diff oil. I'm seriously OCD when it comes to my truck. I say that and my truck is sitting in the garage covered in mud and dirt.

4runner is still made in Japan, so probably different frame manufacturer.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
A friend with an '05 (who got the frame replaced) was told by the service manager I believe, that in late '07 they made a change. I have an '08, and although it looked like shit, it's solid and was undercoated under the recall. My wife's '07 Xterra looks new compared to mine. I'm hoping their undercoat works, as I'll be switching if it doesn't. I hated taking my S-10 in to the dealer every few months, but if my frame rots, I'm done with Yota.

It is weird that the 4Runner is not affected. Your idea makes sense. Well doesn't make sense that the 4Runner isn't affected but you're probably correct.

as i stated before, i have had isuzu's chevys fords dodges all with the same type of frame rot issues come through the shop. it looks to me like toyota gets the round of applause for at least recalling them. unlike the others who just ignore it.

True, I'm glad they did. My S-10 had chronic ball joint issues (across many years and models) that Chevy refused to recall. Just saying I bought the Taco to last. I'm currently at 65k miles, hoping the frame lasts another 100k.

I used Eastwood internal frame coating on my Ram. Have also used Eastwood products like this on my Dads Silverado, it was getting rough! Just have to get the brake lines changed out now!

I've not done anything to my Tacoma's frame yet. I did use this on my 4x skid plate before putting a topcoat on to black it out.

All of the changes made in 2007 were structural. Nothing to do with rust.
