I've read the FAQ quide on here regarding lifts plenty of times. And while it's a pretty good thread, I would love a YouTube video that explains what kind of lift would work best for me and my budget.
I'm not ashamed to say that for the most part, my lift would be for aesthetics.. cough mall crawler cough.. yea i know. So then folks would suggest a body lift. But then again, why lift the body and have it ride the same as a stock truck. What if I want the best of both worlds? What do i do then?

Lifts? You mean squats, deads, and bench?

    j/k

I had spacers for a few months and switched to 5100s. I'd suggest 5100s all day. I don't do any off roading, not saying that I never will. I think the 5100s give you the best of both.

lol i do plenty of that already!

But yea, it does seem that 5100's seems to be the common consensus among most around here. Let's say I have a budget for around $1500.. Would the best thing to do be tackle my lift and/or suspension needs first, save money then add tires/wheels. It seems that a bigger set of tires can sometimes make a huge difference as well. I know there's a thread around here with peeps who post pics of their trucks with no lifts, just nicer tires and they look nice too..

    Sound logic. Imma do it

5100's/Eibach's and an AAL in the rear is all you need and you can get it done for less than $600. I used to have an 01 PreRunner and I put the 5100s w/ Eibach springs and an AAL in the rear and loved it. I also upgraded to 31's. I sold it b/c I need a 4x4 and it came with a spacer lift and blocks in the back and I hate it. You just can't beat the 5100's/Eibach and AAL lift. I'm definitely going to be going back that route soon. You can spend as much as you want on a lift, but for 3", the best and cheapest route is Bilstein's. They perform on and off road, too.

Is Eibach just another brand? And I'm reading up on the Bilstein 5100's (Ride Height Adjustable) on their website and it says it's designed for the front.
So you're suggesting Bilstein 5100's and then add an AAl separately to the rear?

5100s come in both front and rear but only the front are adjustable and add lift. The rears are just an upgrade over stock parts but provide no lift benefit. When I put my spacers on I added an AAL in the rear and left it on when I swapped for 5100s. I put them on all 4 corners just because the guy that sold me the fronts threw in the rears. Otherwise I would've left those stock. I bought everything used on TW and got my truck lifted how I want for less than $200. I do still have stock springs but they do the job.

Eibach's are the springs. If you use stock springs, you'll have to set the Bilstein on the highest level, so the spring is compressed. Eibach's are the perfect length to be able to leave the shock at the lowest level. Either way will work, though. For the rear, you can put in a whole new leaf pack or just add a leaf spring to the existing leaf pack. AAL is cheaper, but a new leaf pack is a smoother ride. You don't need bilstein 5100's on the rear, but they will make for a smoother ride. I didn't get them on my old truck, so I dunno if they're worth it or not.

Leg day this morning was intense. I did some new stuff and my legs are shaking!

front squats: 4 sets of 15-20
front foot elevated split squat: 4 sets of 8-10 example
peterson step ups: 4 sets of 15-20 example
    stiff-legged deadlifts: 3 sets of 15-20
sumo deadlifts: 3 sets of 15-20
leg curls: 2 sets of 8-10

Couldn't even do calves my legs were so sore. The wife has my truck today, so I drove my brother-in-law's stick shift to the gym and driving home was a pain in the ass! (FYI, he also drives a Tacoma...stock '02 4x4 with an ARB bumper)
