I shoulda took more, but I didn't want to waste any of the day. It was one of those days where we got there right when it opened and didn't stop until the lifts closed.

Any suggestions on a product to keep rust under control, there was not a lick of rust on this thing when I bought it over a year ago.

Have found many products but want to do it once and be done with it, not sample a bunch of different things.

I live and work about a block from the beach (tough I know) so salt water is a huge factor in the equation.

Not to worried about the exhaust, just rear axle and leaf springs. I'm sure the reason springs squeak is due to rust developing.

Spray everything in fluid film. The end.

Thought that was to be used before rusting happened, not after the fact...

http://www.por15.com/ ? Heard good things about it. The second part (metal prep) includes rust neutralizer.

Oh. my bad. The proper way to do it is to take everything apart, sand off the rust, re-powdercoat it all or use some rust inhibiting paint and then throw clearcoat on it for more protection. You asked for something to keep rust under control. Fluid film will handle it, but once you've got rust, you have to get rid of it. No product is going to just stop rust in its tracks once it starts.

I disagree. I paint right over rust. It's the only thing keeping my truck together aside from zip ties and duct tape.

Yea I've done the same thing and still have rust come through within a few months.
Like this stuff I use often, and it works for bit and then I get rust coming right through it. All I was saying was that nothing is gonna STOP rust once its there, these are just gonna keep it covered for a bit.

Frustrated. Last snow run arb compressor took a dump while filling tires. It just keeps running. Has to be a leak somewhere. Soap and water showed me bubbles at the pressure switch. Redid everything with Teflon tape. No dice. Got paste. No dice. No more time to work. I guess it's to the shop on Monday :annoyed:

Agreed. Some people don't know the difference though. watched my father in law spray some rustoleum rust inhibiting primer over an old metal bench that was so rusted the pitting had pitting. He swears by the stuff and says it stops
rust in its tracks. I watch him lightly scuff up that bench about 3 times a year and just keeps putting layers of the stuff down. Tried to tell him to at least get the thing sandblasted once, he won't hear it.
