    Hello all!
I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma prerunner Trd

Having an issue with the rear driver side wheel completely locking when braking or at low speeds (1-10 mph)
The truck shakes extremely hard and sometimes causes the wheel to actually lock and skid.
I recently replaced both front rotors and calipers, and the problem started around the same time.
First mechanic I took it to said the entire rear end assembly was bad, and needed to be replaced, and another said it was an abs issue.
Has anyone had this problem before or know of a fix?

Keep in mind, t doesn't always do this, just sometimes, usually when I'm in parking lots, and drivethrus.
    Thanks for your time

I fought the same problem for about a year. Replaced pads, calipers, diff oil (I have an LSD), nothing worked.
Replaced the rear shoes with OEM ones fixed it completely.

A little bit of oil on your shoes will do this exact same thing. Caused by a slightly leaking axle tube seal or even being careless with greasy fingers/tools when the rear drums were off.

    Just a possibility...

Just had a brake inspection done and they found leaking seals and the shoes were soaked.
However they told me that wouldn't cause this particular issue.

It's only 375 to fix so I'll see if that's the issue

Ahh, i really suspected that by your symptoms! I guarantee you with absolutely no doubt when you get new shoes and clean the piss outta your drums (cause they are now oil soaked) that problem will dissappear! Im sorry but those or that mechanic are dead wrong about that not being the problem.

But really be sure the drums get cleaned well and of course the shoes need replaced, which im sure you knew, theres no salvaging them unfortunately.

brake master cylinder will do this..check your brakes to see if they are hotter than normal after a 3-5 mile trip. it can mean your brakes are dragging.
