Don't worry. As much as this thread can and will most likely become a shitshow, it will be lost in translation in short order.

Is everyone doing ok? Rear end doesn't hurt too much from the cactus does it?

Should have been an engineer, I guess..... took me until I was in my late 40s to start earning 6 digits. When I was in my twenties, I was making like $15K.

Due to the way many colleges have inflated graduation requirements, and how they jack students around regarding the catalog they started under, it's taking many students five years to graduate. No way you're getting a bachelors and a masters in 36 months.

Yeah engineer's make La Feria when it comes to getting paid. I really would like to figure out how to become one who makes them 6 figures.

I guess being in your 20's is the decade of your life where you experiment and determine what field and career of study and practice is truly right for you. And pays well enough. Maybe I shouldn't feel too bad.

Well, I often have a philosophical debate with myself... earn a nice living at a job that is okay ? Or earn less, probably considerably less, at a job I would love doing every day. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

There's no debate for me...I'm more into the 128 hours a week OUTSIDE of work than the 40 hours at work...

I believe they do. I was there yesterday discussing over career choices with them and I did mention getting a masters and if I remember correctly they DID say that they had one.

Lets be honest here. The kind of career we dreamed of being in when we were kids is not the same career we all work as or are pursuing these days. The all american dream (Have a nice house, nice cars, a wife, kids, and living comfortably within our means at job which we both love and get paid well for) is dead.

I'm doing exactly the job I wanted to do when I was a kid...all the way through high school in fact. But, I'm here to say, it's still just a job and that's why we get paid.

Yes, but if you love what you do, while you get paid for it, then it is not necessarily a job. More like a full time hobby. Which no one can beat.

MANY of us is where I was getting at with that, definitely not all. Some of us definitely got lucky and/ or were skilled enough and are able to do what they love.

Had to pay $700 today to the irs for not having insurance during 2015, it will be a lot more next year so looks like I have to sign up for health insurance to avoid the "fee". Was looking forward to ordering some more parts but I guess it will have to wait

Do trade school for welding, I did 2 semesters and got a contract before I graduated, waiting on the background check and drug test then I'll have 5 weeks of training, pass their wed test and make decent money.
According to the HR rep the average pay for my position last year was $135K, of course that's with a good amount of OT but still.
