Who Else Is Getting The Big Stiff One On Tax "Returns" This Year?

I got I've $2k back, that's the way it's bend for the last 10 years.. Doesn't matter how much I make, it's aways the same.. No kids, don't have a mortgage, I get hit hard

 

I owe $90 to the Fed. But the State owes me $349.

I've paid a pile into each of those over my 20+ year professional career, I do expect to get something back on those two. Hope they're still around when I retire.

I would be willing to venture a guess that it is WELL OVER 1/3 of the country as of currently.

 

I get a lot back. But I also pay a lady a lot to get me that. I'm also married. A kid. 2 houses. Don't pay any state taxes between the wife and I. 2 years ago I thought I'd owe 2k. Ended up getting 3k back with her.

 

You can forget about Social Security. That is on it's way out the door in a hurry. My generation definitely won't be able to obtain those benefits.

I plan my retirement without even considering social security. If I get it... I'll consider myself lucky given how terribly managed that program has been over the last 50 years. And given how incredibly much I've paid into it, that would be a crime not to be able to collect.

 

Its illegal to opt out of social security too!

I look at my projected monthly SS benefits, so I'll know how much I get screwed. I'm lucky enough to have a company pension (that was frozen 2 yrs ago...but I had 20 yrs of accrued benefits) and a company 401K. My employer did kick up matching contrubutions to 401K and added an extra defined contribution of 6% to make up for frozen pension. So lucky pension was simply frozen & not eliminated. Ive still got a ways to go before official retiremen, so it should all be fine. Any SS will be a bonus.....play $$.
