$4700 back. Got $500 last year. I got a big stiff one. :bananadance:

My military retirement + SS + wifes SS + her retirement we's at 66k a year and only spend 55k + 750k in funds we don't touch. What is everyone bitching about?

Eh... I don't worry about it, just means they let the government keep their money all year without paying them interest on it.

Like that doctor in Alabama has given disability to 80% of his clients. He has 8 clinics now. "The 45 YO lady has back spasms, she is old and can't do the only jobs in town like logging". There are many jobs there. There lies the problems as he rakes in 1.3 million a year profit....

^^This. Add that that person still payed what they owed!

Imagine putting money into a bank account- and the bank saying: "we will let you earn interest on this portion, not the rest. We will keep the rest for a year. You can then apply for a refund- to see what, if any we will let you have back."

That's what big "refund" people do. Why? I have no earthly idea.

Yeah, my sister and her husband typically get back $8,000 a year on their return. They view it as a savings account and use that money for home upgrades. I once asked why they don't claim the 4 exemptions they can use and spend that money as they earn it instead of letting the government keep it all year and then give it back to them and they looked at me like I had lost my mind. I too that as, "If we had it in our pockets all year, we'd waste it".

Thanks. I used to be a free loan to the gvt type person.

Once you begin to actively manage your money- everyrhing about your perception of money will change.

By the way- tax filing is meant to determine what you OWE- not determine your REFUND.

You pay the same, either way. :)

    Discuss.

I would like to know what everyone is doing for work. $25 an hour is nothing to frown upon. Especially these days.

Made a bunch of stuff black.
Between state and federal, I paid a little over $18,000 in taxes. Get my taxes done, hoping for a big ass return, end up owing $3,902 to federal and $260 to state. Nothing is more devastating than paying taxes all year just to end up paying more. Especially that much. Pisses me off!
