And without further adieu....the all new @RelentlessFab front bumper and skid for the RDP!
I gotta hand it to Eric. I gave him the most remedial requirements and left the rest of the design up to him. Without a doubt exceeded expectations. Not just a 1 trick plate bumper pony! Requirments:
    • Must be a DOM tube bumper
    • Frame horns are fine
    • Skid must be 1/4" aluminum
    • Ditch the HID's and throw in a light bar
    • When in doubt...overbuild. It's the Retarded Desert Penguin after all...and an even more retarded driver.
    Frame horns:

    Inner plate gussets:

    Outer gussets with dimples:

Gusset work on the inner part of the skid and welded ears on the outside (where I always seem to bash and lawn dart and turn into smashed shit):

    Glamour shots:

For those with a keen eye, you'll notice the skid is ONE continuous piece. Once piece from the top of the bumper all the way down and back passed the steering rack and joined up to the belly pan.

    Excuse me for a moment.

Cheers, thanks for sharing your experience.
The weight of the F5s and the Countersteer offroads are apparently the same, 19 lb. I'll be getting some Cooper ST Maxx, so it would be nice to decrease the wheel weight for the reasons you state. Especially on a DD like mine, because I actually care about not destroying my mileage and losing power.

The F5s are less expensive. And if I pick them up in Emeryville, cheaper still. Since I want to get five, better still. And I prefer locally grown product.

I've found 18 psi to work well for what I've done in the 1st gen, on both rock and sand, and that's what my Stauns are currently set at, so I doubt I'd ever have need to go as low as 14, but I'll have to see on the new setup with E rated tires.

Sigh. Now I'll just have to agonize a bit more. That may require a splash of bourbon.

For the record. In sand and snow, I've been as low as 7 PSI with my F5s and did not blow a bead.

Looks awesome! Did you ever dent up the area where the front diff is? My skid is all kinds of fucked up in that section to the point where it's touching my front diff, was wondering if you dealt with the same or just where the reinforcements are.

    New bumper/skid combo looks sick!

<- this guy needs a front bumper. But after seeing your condenser, not sure I want yours :boink:

Looks Awesome!!! Eric makes better tube bumpers than all the specialty desert/prerunner/race shops!

I gotta bring my skid back to Eric @RelentlessFab for the 2016 upgrade haha. I need some extra gussets in that same middle part. Already bent mine...

Nobody wants my bumper/skid. I was being sarcastic. Aside from requiring some less than marginal fabrication to make it fit...they are beat to shit.

The condenser has nothing to do with either. That was a mistake my dumb ass made when I was lowering my truck after putting the new engine in. The jack handle got wedged under the condenser as it came down. Early posts in this build outline the dipshit mistake.

Just tell @RelentlessFab you want the jberry treatment. Basically means you give him money and a couple discrete OTPHJ's and he beefs up the material and gussets.

How bad is the bumper? TBH, I may be interested if you are willing to ship. The design would work very well with how I have my intercooler mounted.

    Oops.

Yup. The arms of the front diff cracked both sides of my old skid. Literally, I had 3" cracks in 1/4" aluminum plate. Hence why Eric put the extra bracing there.

The bumper isn't bad, but you would have to cut off all your factory bumper mount points and fabricate and weld on new ones to match the bumper. It will not be a bolt on experience
