a question about frame rust

looking for buying a 2G taco. So looks like the frame rust issue profoundly occurred between 04 and 08 (09) of tacos... I will be okay if I buy any of tacos since 2010 model? or still need to be careful to look at the frame for any year of taco I want to buy? Live in MA, tons of snow salt on the road in the winter. Can you tell me any "link" to check a recall history (especially for frame rust) with "vin#"? Thank you.

 

I would be careful on any of them. I had a 99 that surrendered to frame rust. Until right before it happened, there were no signs of it coming. I even had the truck under coated a number of times over the 12 years I owned it.

 

If your not buying brand new, and live in Ma., you would probably be better off looking for an '05-'08 ('04, and below, are 1st gen) that has already had the frame replaced. For those years, the frame either gets replaced, or gets the undercoat.
