I did use the search function, and the dealership said it was a factory remote start. If they are wrong, thanks for letting me know

Remote Starter, LUND Nerf Bars, Interior LED Lights, LED Lights Under The Hood,
Dealerships have 3rd parties install remote starts and add a mark up. Your better off finding a local shop and having it done yourself. Mine cost $350, the dealer wanted $525. As an FYI, if you have the keyless start be aware that with a remote start, the truck will shut off once once you open a door (there is no getting around this that I'm aware off).

There is a Toyota remote start. Toyota VIP is a remote start unit. It is a port install option on tacomas. I have one on my 16 Tacoma as well as a 15 Camry Hybrid.

I'm not sure where the "there is no factory remote start" comes from.

provide some part numbers, I googled and searched toyota's site, no offering of that system as an option for the taco. There is a p/n for the tundra PT398-34110, but no mention of taco compatibility.

I had the factory Toyota remote start in a previous Camry. I went for the Toyota factory one, because I didn't want to carry a separate fob, and the remote start is integrated into the factory wireless remote key. To start it remotely, you press the lock button 4 times, and hold it on the 4th press. Then the car will flash the signal lights to confirm and start. Range is probably only about 30ft, but I didn't care about range, because I'm never that far away where I can't pop out to start it. I had made a video before to show the factory remote start in action.

Also, with every single car that I've ever had an aftermarket remote start system installed, issues would develop after a while. So I didn't want to deal with that.

I had the aftermarket one button remote start installed (got it for free with my gap insurance). Now I have a factory remote start feature by clicking my lock button three times on my wireless fob. Same as the video above. I'm not sure if the aftermarket starter is tied into the lock wiring or something fishy like that? But either way I can ditch the remote start fob and just use my factory, kind of nice in the long run, less keys.

The vehicle does not always cut off when you open the door. Tacomas without the smart key can be taken over without restarting.

Both my Camry and Tacoma... Both are smart key vehicles with push button start, both have the Toyota starter... Both of them turn off when the door is opened.

They start with the lock button, you can't lock the doors with the keys in the vehicles. However all of the remote start systems I have ever owned required the vehicle to be restarted before I could drive off. A security feature.

If you look at the info it will give you a Vin numbed and if yours is newer then it, it will work. Not sure why a references the Tundra but it works on any Toyota.

I would be interested to see if it does work.

As I said... It's on my 15 Camry Hybrid and 16 Tacoma DCSB OR 4x4.

    It works.

It maybe just what you've owned, my f150 started, unlocked via remote and you put the key in and went. Nissan smart keys will also allow the handoff. Like I said the Tacomas without the smartkey will allow takeover as will 4runners without smartkeys.
