There are several threads (e.g., 100K, 200K, 300K) out there for tracking overall miles, but none for miles after frame replacement. How many miles have you put on your truck since the frame was replaced? Any issues outside of normal wear?

My 02 DC frame replaced at 182K and I now have 186K. So 4K.

Few weeks ago there was a member that posted pics of his newer frame like one maybe two years old and it looked like shit!! Massive rust already! Like rust covering everything already.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Probably because most people don't take the time to keep their trucks clean and or take the precautionary measures to seal that bitch up. If I get a new frame for mine, first thing it will be getting is fluid filmed end to end.

I would fully agree with that and no he didnt put anything on the frame from what i remember. But! With that said i would have expected the new friggin frames to have been a little better quality, right? Apperantly they were made with the same ole shitty ass china steel with the same insta rott characteristics as the first frames. Thats what i thought was pretty lame...

Yeah it sucks, but Toyota just did what they had to to cover their ass. They figure the new frames will last long enough and by the time they start rotting away and people come to them they can say they're shit out of luck, no more warranty on the trucks. If I had the money, I'd just pay a high end shop to build me a real frame.

I don't know, man. I had an 81 f-150 when I lived in North Dakota. That truck spent its entire life in ND and Minnesota and had just light surface rust on the frame (bed and fenders were rusted out though).

I never messed with washing or treating the frame. It was a turd otherwise.

Yeah i think toyota ened up with the cheapest shittiest quality of steel for our frames that was available. Everything rusts but whats amazing about our frames is how rapidly and aggressively these things die. Ive seen some seriously huge chunks of rust scale off a taco frame, like small potato chip size. Then youve got steel like your ford you mentioned, yeah theres rust but noting you could pick apart with your finger nail and get huge pieces to come off. Its too bad cause there'll still be old cars and trucks on tje road years from now but our damn tacos will pry be more rare than the rare cars today due to the high rate of cancer victims in the salt.state areas...

Sad but very true. Probably one of the reasons mint condition Tacomas/Older Pickups are worth so much because they truly are rare to find not all rotted out.

I've legit come to absolutely love the smell of FF. New frame as of 11/14 when I bought it and I've greased that thing up like mad. PAin in the ass if I'm crawling under the truck but the peace of mind is worth it.

I'm only at a couple hundred miles so far. Unfortunately our winter has been mild so they have been putting down twice as much brine and salt to use it up. Sucks to hear the new frames being as crappy as the old. I plan on getting mine coated in the next few weeks.
