I said in this case. He had a spare if it had been a blowout. The inflator kit would have got him back on the road in a reasonable amount of time instead of waiting 3 hours.

Edit to add unless he did have a blowout. Then the only option of course is to change the tire.

Saw that fire extinguisher thread. Good thread.
Any idea what the general consensus was about which type would be best to carry?

Stay away from the ABC one's, apparently the agent in them is highly corrosive to electronics. I've been reading up on halon and halotron.

How many people carry a tire repair kit with them?
I have used mine a few times in my Jeep.

Not me. I don't even have jumper cables or any other basics aside from what came with the truck. I keep putting it off and one day I'm sure it'll bite me. Apparently I'm relying on Toyota Care to save the day.

I don't have ARB but I have other versions of what you carry. Also carry tools. Flashlight and booster cables. My jump starter doesn't work anymore. Need new one.

Lol. Nope....just one of the blind leading the blind with the "that stuff happens to other people, not me" mentality unfortunaly.

I'll definatley be getting an emergency kit together next weekend though.

I do know how to change my own tire....so not a total lost case....but I guess that depends on who you ask. :notsure:

    Thanks!

This is what I had in the truck: http://www.quadratec.com/products/98003_00XX_PG.htm

Left it in there for the new owner. Thinking about one of their Halguard ones for the FJ: http://www.quadratec.com/products/98003_011X_PG.htm

I agree with some of the sentiment expressed here about being prepared for emergencies in a vehicle, just not how some have expressed it. Owning a vehicle is actually quite expensive when done properly. Many just look at the sticker price and don't factor in the maintenance, emergency gear, emergency training, etc. Part of the problem is the US infrastructure is heavily centered around the individual automobile. It is hard to get by without a car in many areas, so people that can't afford it scrape by.

While I would have limped to a safe place and changed out the flat myself, the OP expected a service that was included with the price of his vehicle (similar to expecting service under the warranty). Sitting around for several hours on the side of a busy highway waiting for a tow truck isn't all that safe and would've had me fuming. Shit happens and it sucks being at the mercy of someone else.

Is there a sticky thread here in TW listing different items to have in an emergency? For some of us it might be common sense to carry this stuff, but it may not be that way for others.

One of mine was but it was not inflammatory..just that I believe there could be reasons why, and again my example that was left up of calling for a tow b/c I was wearing a suit. Am I on the possible ban list?

No, you're not. No one is as of now, if people come back and continue then yes. Yours may have been deleted because of a quote of another. I don't recall, there was almost 80 messages removed.
