Downloaded Photoshop CC 30 day trial to try out the focus stacking. Lots of snowflakes lately to try macros on. Doing it with my body and manually doesn't give a high keeper rate so now looking at macro slider rails. Among other things, sighhh... this can get expensive quickly! Very pleased with the focus stacking in PS pretty sure I'll end up with the subscription.

It's easy peasy. Start with the basic develop stuff. If you want, there are bunch of LR6 youtube videos and some online stuff that will help you get up to speed.

I don't have experience with version 6 but previous versions have been very user friendly. Check out YouTube for some videos of other photographers workflows. It'll give you an idea of how things work.

I found a pic to play with, went to "develop", did a few things that I liked, but couldn't find a damn spot to 'save' what I had done. I'll check out the vids. Thanks, guys.

Changes are automatically saved after every "change". Once you get to a point where you're satisfied you can export the edited image to a number of different formats. The great thing about Lightroom is that it keeps track of every move you make and you can go back to any point at anytime or completely reset the image back to the original if you want.

LR is a non-destructive editor. Meaning the changes are saved in sidecar files and not with the actual image. This allows you to "undo" all the way to the start.

I had LR 5 and just yesterday signed up for the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography service for $10/mo. Pretty happy so far... Still playing around with the mobile > computer workflow but it seems pretty neat. Going to be taking a few longer trips this year where it'll be nice to be able to start editing in the field and then pick it right up when I get back home.

Still wish there was watermark support on the mobile side though. Huge oversight on Adobe's part...

Funny that Photoshop is advertising 25 years now.. But Adobe never has been enterprise ready. Just look at LR let alone PS. When we went from MAC OS 6.2 to 7.1 they finally took TCP\IP seriously. Like anyone took Appletalk seriously? With the largest implementation of Appletalk in the world outside of the education environment, in addition to Main Frame, we did it for many years and it was painful.

For games Novell IPX which actually rocked and I will crush you with a 3DFX card and IPX LOL. And there was Banyon Vines, and IBM token ring. Excuse me but which MAU swallowed the ring? In the end there is there is something called TCP\IP... Beats the hell out of pinning serial connections on NIX boxes until your fingers bleed.... But a NIC and even a wifi card at the physical layer including the optical fiber domain if done correctly can conquer a lot. And there is the security factory....

ATM - Adobe Type Manager for the Mac. And Conflict Catcher. Just saying.....

Convergence... Maybe Adobe is finally learning. I really hope so... Don't have a lot of faith in Adobe as a convergence or enterprise tool. But am hoping they finally pull it together. The potential is unbelievable if they can.

I'm not sure what applications have to do with network protocols or networking in the context of your comments about Adobe. But TCP/IP isn't a physical layer and has been implemented on many different topologies including FDDI, Infiniband, Token Ring and Ethernet.

Heck, ATM and CC are long dead products too. I'm curious why you think Adobe isn't enterprise class software and what you expect LR or PS to converge.

edit: and AppleTalk lives on in the form of Bonjour :)

That's Greek and it's actually a quick learn ha. The alphabet is relatively easy to learn compared to a lot of other languages.

Hence the term, "It's all Greek to me". I've lived my whole life in California and I still can't speak Spanish. Well, not much, anyway.
