Remember that you paint from the inside, and start with darkest colors first if you can. Liquid mask is the best method, but you can get away with painter's tape if you're careful. Also first wash the inside of the body soap to wash off any oils.

Assuming it's a lexan body you cab pick up a Lexan scissors from Parma relatively cheap. I had one back in the day.

It looks real good. If you made some links to stretch the wheelbase slightly you could droop the shocks some and get more suspension travel.

Good idea! I may have to stretch slightly anyway just so the front tires don't rub. Either that or trim the body.
Thanks everyone! I am quite surprised it turned out as good as it did considering this is the first body I have painted. I learned a lot this weekend. May do up another new body just for the heck of it. :)

    Next question.

The bottom of Dad's old truck has that stripe down the length of the body. It was originally white - I don't know why he painted it blue. Think I should try to replicate that down the side? Just that long section between the wheels.

Quick chop - I actually think it looks better without:

Seeing as it's just pinstripe, you can always remove it or change it.

Decided to give the self-righting thing on XMAXX a try yesterday. While it's a pretty neat feature, I'm not so sure a walk isn't better. Why? Because when it's trying to right itself, it spins the tires at pretty high speed (you can see the tires deform) for a while-seems like you waste a lot of battery. If the tires aren't in full contact, they just rub, wearing them down. Plus the couple times I tried from full turtle, it didn't work and just walked the thing over the dirt and scratched the crap out of it.

Otherwise, it was crazy fun in the dirt. A group of us hit Hollister for some wheeling and bbq'ing before busting out the RC trucks. Large dirt lot to play around it. High speed runs, jumps, and a few trucks made for some good fun.

You could always mock it up and try it, I know most Hobby stores sell (thinking way out of the box here) doll house balsa in varying degrees of thickness and at least give it a shot.
