Come on man. Who has better roadside svc? Nissan, Honda?

I doubt anyone has better service than the other.

I'm just saying AAA cuz I've been in a few gnarly situations and never had to wait more than one hour... My experience could be an anomaly though, who knows. Even though Toyota Care supposedly operates in the same fashion, I'll stick with AAA because I've had them forever, never let me down, and have heard (disproportionately) quite a few complaints about TC. YMMV.

I'm a little confused as to how this is Toyota's fault? I mean I get it, Toyota Care, but I don't think its Toyota's fault. Toyota Care is a free service. You get what you pay for, you paid nothing....

I get it, no one likes a flat tire. No one wants to change a tire. I don't get all excited when I get a flat and scream "Hell yes, I get to change a tire!!" No its actually more like "Shit, son of a!! damn, this sucks, uuuggghhh!!!" And whatever else may or may not come out of my mouth when I have a blow out. I've been there man, on the side of a highway in nice dress clothes, changing a tire, in the freezing cold. It sucks.

But to blame Toyota, and say its the last Toyota because of the shitty service you received? I mean, really? That's like saying you'll never go to the best steak house in town again because your waitress that night sucked. I mean c'mon man.

I get it I get it, you bought a new vehicle and got all pumped about this free service and unfortunately had to use them, and it failed. It happens. I'll tell you what though, 3 hours of waiting? nah, I would of dropped it back in drive after 20 mins and drove to a better area for changing a tire, and just sucked it up. Yeah, messy clothes maybe would of ruined your night, but I think 3 hours of sitting around getting aggravated ruined it a little more.

I've been there man. Un-safe area, not well lit, etc. I drove a few more miles and took care of it. Sure, driving on the flat damaged the tire and I had to replace it, but oh well, still better than waiting for 3 hours.

Again, no. They are included in the price of the vehicle. Toyota does not just provide it out of the kindness of their hearts. They hire an actuarialist to compute the probabilities of things breaking and the cost of those items to replace or fix over the lifetime of the offered service and then include it in the price of the total vehicle fleet they sell. Manage a manufacturing effort and you'll get the full picture. It works just like automotive and medical insurance except the premium was paid in the cost of the vehicle.

If it were truly free, I could call up at anytime in the lifetime of any vehicle and demand service.

I know what you're inferring and I'm disagreeing.

Point being, you can look at it either way. Since I can't call Toyota and get a refund on either the warranty or Toyota Care, and I didn't pay separately for them - I'm going to call them free.

You can call them whatever you want.

Which was more dangerous? Changing a tire on the side of the highway then going on your way or sitting on the side of highway in the same spot for 3 hours.

There are two types of people in this world.

    1. One who gets a flat and immediate tries to figure out the best place to pull over so they can change the tire themselves.

    2. The other one is the type that gets a flat, and immediately thinks of who they can call for help.

We're on a car enthusiast forum. We should all be #1!

OP. Your biggest mistake on ALL of this is, in the 3 hours you waited. You could of had sexy time with your girl for at least 5 to 10 mins of it. WTF were you thinking? Would of been a special roadside Valentine's day!

Any ABC fire extinguisher will work, I have a Kiddie 10 pounder I use. One thing to remember is that fire extinguishers don't cool any parts or offer vapor suppression so if the fire is from hydrocarbons igniting on hot parts, as soon as it breaks through it can reignite.

If you're in a dangerous spot, wouldn't it be better to drive on the flat to a safer spot with your hazard lights on?
Rim and tire can be replaced, risking injury just parked there doesn't sound too wise...

Problem with the ABC ones is if they are a dry chemical type they may end up doing more damage than the fire. In an emergency situation where someones life is on the line I'll use what ever is available. I'd look for ones that have sodium bicarbonate as the dry agent vs. come of the other dry chemical ones.

My point is, it was a promised service that gets advertised to better market the sale of their vehicles. It was promised up front and in writing. If it was factored in as part of why the vehicle was purchased, then the purchaser wouldn't feel good about it if it was not up to expectations.

BTW, I'm sure somewhere in the lawyer print, it states all the conditions in which to expect a window of service, including long wait times.

I just couldn't imagine the response if some little old lady were out on the side of the road for 3 hours waiting on a tow truck.

And your point is taken as well. I disagree but respect your viewpoint.
