I'm coming from a Chevy volt... I also encountered a blow out and needed on star. Volt comes with no spare. ON STAR contracts out to local tow companies. You are at the mercy of the tow company. I waited hours as well. Definitely not chevys fault for the local tow being over booked on a Friday night.

And this is Toyota's fault how? You had a blow out or flat tire due to debris on the road that you hit. You called Toyota, and they had to call some other company to get a tow truck to you. It is that company and not Toyota that is at fault here. I have had it happen with AAA, State Farm road side, Nissan, and other companies. Again, don't blame Toyota for this.

Doubtful when you can drive on a flat tire for a short distance at low speed to get to a safe spot.

After reading this thread, I'm like

Your man card should be pulled if you can't change your own flat tire no matter what the situation! Let alone stand there with the tire while it looks like state cop is doing the work!

    He pays his wages.
What he should have done is thank the cop for blocking traffic and changed the tire himself.

I'm sure a state cops job isn't to change a tire.... Big wage payer

I wouldn't expect the cop to change my tire. Just saying that some people have that attitude.

Another good item to have in your truck is a good rubber mallet. I once got a flat, with the lugs off and rig jacked up I could not for the life of me get the tire off. I kicked, hit and screamed and nada. I limped back to town to a garage. The guy there used a rubber mallet and wacked it good, it came loose but must of had mud freeze dried on there or something.

I wonder what his girlfriend thoughts out all of this. Probably posting on loveshack right now, "boyfriend could not change tire, waited three hours, missed dinner".

Read most of the posts about how "lousy" Toyota Care is....hell I wouldn't even let a dealer do those "free" services. Last time I had it done (on my '12 Tundra) I had oil drippings on the driveway (filter and pan plug were tight) for a week or so and the lug nuts were torqued so tight it took a breaker bar to loosen them up. I now rotate my own tires every 5K (the Tacoma is a breeze compared to the Tundra) and I change my own oil (using OEM Toyota filters and Mobil 1 0-20W synthetic). I have "roadside assistance" with my insurance (Auto Owners) and the 1 time I had to use it they were there within 30 minutes and I was in between two smaller towns. I wish they would let us opt out of the "free oil" changes and get some low cost accessory instead such as door sill protectors or mud guards.
