bumpstop size

what size bumpstop do i need for a 1.5aal on a tsb 4 leaf pack? is a 4.5inch one too much?

 

Is the overload leaf going to be retained? Need more info.

 

When I swap to dakars probably not keeping the aal as I won't have a plate rear or bed rack/tent. But I want it to be at around 2.5lift in the rear.

 

Okay. And how big of a bump stop are you looking to get? What brand? Do you have a link to the bump stop if you don't know?

Oh and what size shock are you looking to get? What is the stroke? What brand, and what is the part number? It's all relevant.

this bump stop for a top down bump stop with regular dakars and the toytec u bolt flip kit. Was thinking the extended bilstein 5100 for a 3-4inch lift, i think is a 11inch stroke.

 

No. Get the GM Silverado polyfoam progressive bump stoppers PN 15712438 they are cheap and easily obtainable at any local GM, Chevy dealer. Add a stack of thick washers as your spacers to acheive the additional .5" of spacing that you desire. To reach 4.5 inches. It will give you a total of 3" of useable bump before bottoming out. They feel like pillows. You have no idea they are even hitting.

Mount it onto the frame portion and use your U bolt flip kit as the bump striker. 1/4 thick plating for the flip kit plates.

Stand by so I can get information on your shocks. It is really hard to figure it out when you do not have the hardware installed on your truck as you cannot measure shock shaft heights. So you may have to install the sorings and shocks as well as the bumps first then make your measurements accordingly so I can tell you how much spacing you will need off the frame so you can utilize all of the bump travel to bottom out.

 

Ya im figured that was the case. I saw your thread on the Gm ones earlier. How much was it for a set? Im just piecing it all together now for everything.

I cannot remember. I do not run them anymore as I switched to Hydro bumps some time ago. They will be cheap and highly effective for your build, for anyone'sreally unless you like to mob down whoops and washboards at higher speeds.

 

10.94" stroke to be exact.

I'll be honest with you. I do not know how much shock shaft you will have exposed, as your overall leaf height will not only be a .5" difference from mine, but also because you will be running a shock shaft with a full .94" of additional of stroke over what I've got. You are most likely going to have to install it all first, and then at which point I'll tell you to drive it and compress the suspension some to allow it to settle then I will have you measure the shock shaft exposed on the shock at ride height, then I'll make you measure strike distance from the u bolt flip plate to the bump stop mount portion of the frame and give me those two measurements.

 

I can then give you an accurate spacing value so you can properly space out the bump stops and use all of it on upstroke full travel.

Get them and drill your holes required for them. Get them set up. Once I get you the spacing numbers then you can add or remove washers if needed.

 

so get the GM ones and then adjust them later when i upgrade the leafs and shocks.

 

Yes exactly. Set the up to 4.5" using necessary washers to do so then secure them using a slim profile nylock nut or lock washer/ nut combo and call it good until you can get the rest of the info required to set it right.
