I just got a set of the 255/85 16 cooper discoverer st maxx and looking to regear this spring. Which ratio would be best? I live in Iowa so quite flat but I will be taking this rig to Alaska and Panama so quite a variety of terrains. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking 4.10s with the 33" tires, but I'm not that experienced in it.

I was thinking 4.10s so I can still maintain some fuel economy. But the added weight of bumpers, drawer systems and all the expedition equipment I may need more gearing to compensate.

Oh yes, if you're adding that much more weight that will always be in/on the truck you may want the next gear set up from 4.10, I'm not sure what that is though, 4.56?

May want to sign up at ttora.com/ttora forums and ask there

I'm running the stock 3.73 with my 255/85 St maxx's. Only issue I have is cruise control, going up hill or over overpasses, when set to 80+mph. Cruise can't really figure out what to do, so it kicks it down a gear and seems to floor it. I've just stopped using cruise control.
