After looking at the complete list, I have not. I see a few that I had considered in the past and either could not find locally or the combination of price and uncertainty of my liking, led me to avoid.
I will certainly give a few of these a try. Any recommendations on the lower end of the pricing?
    Feel free to PM.

    Thank you

There are quite a few out there. I like Lagavulin 16, but it doesn't fit your criteria. It can be found at Costco for just over $60, if I recall correctly, and can be a bit of an acquired taste.

Caol Isla 12 I think I like even better now, but that isn't cheap either.

Maybe I'm steering you down the wrong track. :bananadead:

Go find a good bar and do a tasting flight!

Not at all. I like the $$$ stuff too! Just not as frequently as I do the less expensive goodness.

I hear you. I only pull that stuff out for special occasions, special friends, just finishing a house refi, etc.

Maybe steer into ryes rather than bourbons, too. Generally I find them less sweet. Hell, even Wild Turkey is less sweet. LOL.

    Oh...where do I begin....LOL.

I have to admit, that post was completely self serving as I was hoping to get some suggestions. I have found that when I follow reviews I tend to strike out most of the time.

Sounds like you may like some stronger bourbons. Bookers, Bakers, Hoah's Mill. Maybe Blanton's.

It was free. The only liquors they had at the party were Bulliet and Tito's Vodka, so my choices were super thin.

I wonder what percent of the whisky-drinking population can actually/would actually order that?! I could hit the lottery tomorrow and I would NEVER pay that much for a bottle of anything. That bottle would have to either print money or be able to suck a di...nvm.

If you really enjoy Bushmills, try Tullamore Dew (if you haven't had it yet). I always have at least one bottle of Irish Whiskey in the rotation and have been enjoying Tullamore Dew lately as base price bottle. Same price as standard Jameson or Bushmills.

I am anxious to try the new Jameson Caskmates. (collaboration with a beer company. Jameson gives them old jameson casks to age their beer in so they get stout with hints of Jameson, then they give jameson back their stout-dripping casks so that the next batch of jameson will have hints of stout.) Sounds like a win for everyone.

I don't condone mixing though. My idea of a cocktail is pouring a few glugs of whiskey and adding an ice cube. I admit some whiskeys are better once you 'open them up' with a little water but I believe God intended whiskey to be drank neat.

Whiskey, neat. Coffee, black. Gun stock, wood.

I agree. I wouldn't spend $25k on a 750ml bottle of whiskey when I can spend $25 on a 1.75L bottle of perfectly drinkable bottle of vodka without that bullshit contraption that prevents you from chugging it. I do enjoy a fine glass of whiskey from time to time but since I drink more than I should I usually have a cup of vodka or two.

Haha I'm not opposed to paying for a good whiskey, but that's just a little extreme...well, a lot extreme, in my opinion. I bet half the people that drank it couldn't tell the difference between that and a $40-$50 bottle, anyway.

Vodka and rum are the two spirits I cannot drink. Rum, I just hate the taste. Vodka and I had a run-in in college that ended up in a hospital visit and stitches, so I stay away from it lol. I can drink vodka mixed with stuff, but I don't even like to smell straight vodka.
