Someone must have complained about it - either way - the HOA is just following up on a complaint (most likely). Because why would they bother if nobody complained about it?

It makes me wonder....He's tried to put a pole up in July and was denied. Prior to that time, how did he fly his flag? Did he just move into this neighborhood? Was he aware of the rules prior to July? Was he aware of the rules when he moved in? I'm sure there's a lot more to this story than we're hearing about and why the media has jumped in to blow things up because they know the American people would be fired up about it.

I sincerely support Col (R) Van Barfoot in flying his American Flag on his stationary flag pole display.

In regards to what rules to abide by, this is the only code that matters to me in flying our Nation's Colors.

Thats the problem with this country. If some one's feelings get hurt it is on. An illegal alien can go to a lawyer and sue someone because the grocery store down the road does not have anyone who speaks spanish. Bull crap. I don't go to Quebec and expect them to speak english. Our problem is that we don't have enough people like the Col. Like I said before, if it was a rusty peice of scpar then ok, take it down, but it was a good looking deal. If someone's home looks terrible then I would understand them taking action, but leave thim man alone and let him keep his flag on the pole.

    Completely agree.

I completely support Col. Van on flying his flag. I could care less on wether it is on a small pole or a pole like his, it's the American flag and should be flown no matter the rules/laws of any HOA. I don't GD care if someone doesn't like it to be flown; you're in America, and the American flag will be flown regardless.

I will trade places with you any day there buddy! Here let me give you some sympothy for your inability to comprehend what it is like to be a soldier in the United States Army. It must be nice to sit there with your friends and family every day of the year. I wouldn't know I am deployed fighting for your right to do that. It is #$#@ holes like you that make it easier for me to tell Unpatriotic Americans to FUCK OFF!!

Sorry forum, I had to do that!!

I just read the whole thread and this is a subject that we have brought up before. Remember the flag in Oregon a couple of months ago. As with any subject that has to do with this you can clearly see both sides of the subject. I agree with both Janster and Secret Squirle. Both for and against and it comes down to how you interpret the rules.

What is saddening to me these days is that we as a Nation are forgetting what it means to be an American. We have allowed the people of the United States to make it not Politically Correct to say the Pledge of Allegiance or to sing the National anthem in our schools. I am a product of the 70's and 80's we used to stand and say the pledge of allegiance every day and on Fridays we would sing the National Anthem. How did we get away from this?

I don't ask for anything because I am in the Military. All I ask is that you take pride in being an American.

If you don't like America then it is a free country and you are free to leave. I hear Iran likes people that don't like America either, they will be glad to have you..

first off, thank you for serving our country. Second, you volunteered so don't bitch when you have to do your job ( again, the job that I appreciate you doing). And third, I would love to trade places with you! You take my health conditions that will be the death of me at a young age and I will go and do the job that you volunteered to do but obviously was too stupid to think through before signing on that dotted line. You just let me know if and how we can make that happen...so maybe I can become patriotic again and still think that breaking a legally binding contract is still wrong no matter what you have done in your past.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY!! :cookiemonster:

The next time you go to vote, if you consider it politically correct to do that, think of how great your life is. I will not lower myself to your level to even argue with you. I can tell you that I have met some really nice people that believe in the same things that you do. Of course they were in Iraq and are now with their 72 Virgins.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

I definitely think this country is going to shit because we are trying to be tolorant and accomidating of everyone's "feelings." I have people (who may or may not be here legally) come in to my work and get pissed off at me because I don't speak spanish. But I digress as this has nothing to do with the original post and is for a different topic on a different thread.

I do think hoa's are a bunch of shit. I have heard nothing but horror stories and bad things about them and will do everything I can to never live in one. I would like to know what they do with all that money they take from people each month. I would guess that there is a lot of skimming off the top. I can't imagine that it costs that much to "upkeep" a neighborhood but they are still taking in thousands of dollars each month. The man should definitely demand to see where his hoa fees are going.
