why are we getting v8 gas mileage with v6's

What I struggle with on this issue is who buys a Tacoma for its gas mileage? We all have our reasons for purchasing this truck but gas mileage was low on my list

 

Im sure it is usually not in the top 3 things when shopping for a truck, but it is one of the only recurring vehicle cost that we have to live with. Most would think smaller truck, better mileage than a bigger truck and it does seem odd that they're worse. A lot of guys buy this size truck for small tasks here and there that you cant do with a car so it does kind of suck when you pay for poor mileage all the time.

 

Tow rating on Taco is wrong but here is a good comparison between a full size and a midsize.

 

Bigger motor, more hp and tq but lower tow rating? What gives?

 

Ford Eco boost will be expensive in full size truck with all bells n whistles I have with my new Tacoma, plus the 4 door Ford will not fit in my garage.

 

Probably no tow package and crap tastic rear coil springs

 

It's just how Toyota builds engines.
Look at the Tundra.

 

don't forget about the Torque those bigger trucks produce, thus, they can "lug" around with low rpms

Try a 3.0L V6 turbo diesel with a 3.55 rear end and a 8080 lbs towing capacity. Add 4x4 and its rated at 19/27.

Research the Ram EcoDiesel and then get back to me...

 

Just like I would never buy a Ford/Chevy. I wasn't intending on turning this into a brand pissing contest. Was just showing the 5.7 is rated at 15/21 and the Taco is 16/21.

 

true, but the price tag will be a huge difference (when both are loaded with options)

I actually am. Jeep/Dodge. I really like the Tundras and will strongly consider one of they improve the fuel economy just slightly on the next rehash. Unlike my father, I explore around and consider other options.

I'll think you'll find them a lot closer than you think if you shop around.
