    INFO FROM @bjs045
Also, AB is the only national park in CA that you can still free camp (in designature areas). There are reserved camp locations too. Which have shitters and showers. Reserve America website should have what's available.

#1 rule is leave no trace.

#2 you have to bring a fire pit in. You CANNOT dig a pit. We took an old stainless steel washer drum. From the size of this group you may need 2. I bought a mix of Pine and Eucalyptus from South Bay Firewood on Rosecrans in Hawthorne. Bring a shit load 3/4 of my short bed was just wood.

I have a link below with directions from McDonald's at Weir Canyon Road to Fish Creek Primitive Campground (restroom).

From here we'll need to drive in and locate a decent camp location and probably air down a bit. If the same spot is open from my trip in Dec. that will be great. Could literally fit unlimited trucks. Hope this is a bit more informative.

I'm hoping this trip helps me discover what I want to peruse more in off roading, prerunner life or 4wd. Currently I'm leaning towards saving a 4x4 but we shall see

That's another option I'm considering. It's just that I already have a prerunner so forsay if I fell in love with prerunning over crawling and other stuff than I would stick with my current Tacoma and upgrade it. Otherwise I'm selling my rig for a 4wd.... although not sure if I want a double cab or not... I like being able to bring more friends but need a long bed every here and there

That's when you convert to a 4runner. You got the 2 rows of seats but the back ones fold down for an extra long bed. Its the best ;)

Ha..... I like 4runners, actually was looking at early 80s and late 70s 4Runners for a possible project. Although I still prefer a truck where the bed is wide open storage, the 4runner limits my hauling capacity..... although could end up keeping my current Taco as a daily and buying an old 4Runner as an offroad rig :D
