A roof rack would be sweet but plenty of other, more important things to spend my money on first. Lift, tires, sliders, the list goes on...

Well it starts with lift, tires, and sliders... Haha! Haven't pieced together exactly what lift I want/can afford yet. I'm also torn between duratracs and KO2s. The hard part is I will probably need to do lift/tires at the same time to keep my truck from looking goofy which will get expensive quickly

I endorse the Duratracs. I've taken I-70 in a blizzard too many times to count not to mention they just look super beefy

Unless you wheel all the time, go with an AT that you can get in a C load. IMO, E load is overkill if you don't wheel. C Load tires are lighter, and won't hit your mpg as hard as the heavier E load. I think bfg has a KO2 in a C load for a 17" wheel. If you have 17's, that'd be a good choice.

Another vote for duratracs. They are amazing in the snow... Even in 2wd on trails they are impressive .

And after i put them on, they made my truck look lifted, since it still looked sick height after the lift.

Or @mountainmonkey here is what you do get one of each and the third will be a Michelin just so we have a base shitty tire to compair to:crapstorm: Then we will see what one does the best and lasts the longest!!! Solved it for you!!

Duratracs handle like shit on the road compared to a more streetable tire. They don't do that well in the snow either in my opinion.

Don't buy load range E tires unless you're going to go with a fully-adjustable (compression and rebound dampening) suspension if your truck is a daily driver.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I have run Duratrax for the second winter in a row and they are great. They have yet to leave me stranded. They have impressed me when I have gone snow bashing. I have load range E tires also and have no real complaints other then they are heavy. :D

A small handful of select mods.
So @mountainmonkey I am hearing some consistent themes that I agree with:
    • Load range C for heavy DD use - I agree with this completely. My Hercules are only load range C and have been fine off road and are better on my teeth for the daily commute.
    • AT vs. MT - I am considering going back to an AT again. My time off road is limited anymore and the noise factor while better with the deadening in, is still annoying.
    • AT's will be far more functional in most of our snow storms on the front range then an MT.
All that being said I say I am considering Cooper this go round. STT Maxx or if I go with an MT I am going STT PRO. Whatever you do you are gonna love the lift and the tire combo when it's all done and then you will just get the "bug" a little more. :D

The Duratrac is a goofy lookin tire imo. lot's of Jeeps run them. Don't be a Jeep.

Had Toyos before (Open Country) and was not impressed. They looked great, but when in snow and ice I was not impressed with them.
