The guy I bought the camper from put in a lot of work. It didn't work for us though. Kids & wife ain't having canned food & shitting in the woods.
Wife asked that I leave the camper alone for a while. "Live in it a little" (not literally) she said. She forgot who she was dealing with: a complete f-ing idiot. Rearranging the setup.

14 gallons & the IndelB 41. Just like the last setup.

do you know what your tacoma and trailer weigh?

I am pondering a 4dr silverado 1500 but I'm not sure if it will have the tow capacity necessary if my truck ever becomes a trailer queen. I think its only rated at 7k lbs

8400lbs if properly equipped. But you could even find a heavy half ton that would be a little more.

Unless you're talking about an 07-13. Which I've owned and would highly advise only getting the LTZ model trim.

Still have ideas for the custom camper you're going to build... This was just easier for now.

2005 z71 crew I'm thinking my tacoma and a trailer would be less then 8400lbs.

Ok dudes, I need some advice on exhausts. My current muffler is rusted out and it's got an annoying leak, so I need a replacement. At first I was thinking of getting another stock one, but then started looking at what other options I had.

I want something quiet or not obnoxiously loud. For example cruising at freeway speeds (80 = 2600rpm) I don't want to hear a loud drone and on trails I don't want to sound like a tank is driving through. A low growly version of stock would be ideal.

I'm open to a cat backs or a compete setup like they URD Spec U.

What do you all run or recommend out there?

That's a nice one!! I need to check that out sometime. I would like to see how the pop up fabric attaches. It's the only thing I haven't quite figured out.

Most first gen guys run the longer of the magnaflows. Seems to be the happy medium for the v6 between throaty and not annoying.

IMO the only way to know for sure what exhaust you'll want is to hear the exact set up on the same engine. Same exhaust on a different truck will not sound the same. Come to my mod day or the next meet whenever it is - and hear what people have.

One of my previous company vehicles was a 2005 xtra cab shortbed Silverado. It was 2wd and had the 4.8 V8. Plenty of power and 18-19 mpg going 75. Great truck. All 8 of the superintendents at the last company drove them. All of the guys with Z71's (3) had tranny issues around 150k. 2 of the 5 guys with 2wd's had the trannys replaced. Mine was fine until a DD totaled it in front of my last house. Truck had 230k on the original tranny. Clunked going from reverse to drive, but fine otherwise. Engines are solid.

That's not a bad buy. If you can talk him down a tad it'll be a good price too. He says leveling kit but they're torsion bars so be just cranked the keys lol. The 5.3 is one of the easiest motors to work on and parts are so easy to find. Phil is right with the transmissions the 4L60e is pretty fragile but in the same breath easy to fix. Mine blew up in my 07 by leaving a stop sign. They seem to be a crap shoot, some never blow some you could sneeze and it'll pop.

I've been around GMs for most my adulthood and have plenty of GM experience with modding and knowing these motors and body styles. Let me know if I can help in any way!

    Yes.
My dad has one with 190,000. Hes never done a thing to it and it runs like a top. My uncle has one with 230ish on it, same story. They bought them off the lot and maintained well, but I still think that the 5.3 with the 4 speed is a good buy.
