I've done one folder! I get the base blade and handle, then we can customize it with different thumb screws, different handles and pins.

I gave it to my sister.. give me a little bit and I will get some pictures.

On a side note, I am still in school, and I will not be able to pump one of these out every few days. If you are interested... it will take a little time to figure out exactly what you want.. and then for me to get the materials will be about a week. After that, it depends on the knife and my life :)rofl:)

I think a little clarity is needed.

He's assembling knives, not making them. Assembling pre made parts and fitting them together, making a handle isn't what I'd ever suggest is knife making.

For those who actually make knives, saying those are custom made or even in the realm of knife making is a little dishonest. Those knives are like building model cars. The pieces are there, you're just putting them together.

You did that well so far as the pics show, but a custom knife maker you are not and you shouldn't claim to be.

I do admit that may have been a little misleading, my apologies... but I have clarified it with the people who are interested.

With that... have you ever "assembled" a knife? While, yes, you can just glue the pieces together like a model car, any respectable knife "assembler" puts their heart and soul into their work. I would argue that I am making this blade into a knife–therefore, knife making. Would you all love your knives if they were just a blade?

Regardless, call it what you may, I am not making these blades.

Nothing wrong with trying to make a few bucks selling those, but be a bit more up front with accurate info.

    Nothing personal.

I have assembled knives and I've made knives, and I'm not a custom knife maker. The amount of passion you might put into assembling a knife kit doesn't make you one either, certainly not with the way you described yourself earlier.

Just be clear, is all. It isn't easy to make knives, it's certainly far more difficult than buying a knife kit and putting it together with a little attention to detail.

You don't actually make anything, except maybe some wood handle scales - I guess that makes you a carpenter as well. ;)

Thank you! The blades pictured are all made from either O1 or 1095. I temper them according to their intended use which can range anywhere from the mid to high 50's on the rockwell c scale.

Cool, I'm a bid fan of tool steel blades. Not crazy about stainless. Anything for sale?

Beautiful work! What's the price range on the smaller ones?

I am with you on the O1. High carbon steels are the way to go (if a person has common sense enough to take care of them). I am finishing up a small batch of some bushcraft knives over the next couple weeks.

The first one out of the gate is made from 01, will have green and black micarta scales and a kydex sheath. All my knives are made in house from start to finish, and I have a hardness tester so I can give the end user a precise number as to where the blade winds up after the heat treat and temper. I am just starting to put my work out there so I appreciate the interest. I will keep this thread updated and if you are interested in some of my upcoming work let me know! Thanks again for the kind words!

Thank you for your kind words. If you are referring to the kiridashi (the pointy little fella with the g10 scales) I would make you one for 60 bucks (75 with a sheath). Those are single beveled blades and they are my spin on a traditional Japanese utility knife.

That's a great price. How about one of these? Sorry I'm not too knowledgeable on fixed blade stuff but I can recognize something cool when I see it lol.
