Glad to hear that some of my initial thoughts have been confirmed. I plan to get an AT tire and was hoping for load range C. The hard part I have noticed is that there are not many 33s out there available in load range C if you have 16" wheels. I'm really hoping to keep my current wheels to save on costs but that may not be an option.

Load range E won't kill you just more inspiring weight to roll around.

I only wheel moderate trails, nothing insane. Most of my time is spent on road, it's my DD. I go up into the mountains in the winter all the time.

I've been thoroughly impressed with my Goodyear Adventure All Terrains.

Great on road. Great in rain (lots of siping from the factory). Very solid and stable in snow. Very good braking in snow.

Very good off road. Again I do moderate trails in CO. Nothing psycho.

Cooper ST Maxx FTMW. Very impressed with mine in the short time I've had them. The tread is more aggressive once I saw them in person, and they have been great in the snow. I've done fine with the load range E going up the mountain to Evergreen from Denver everyday, and that's with a 4 banger auto. The extra weight doesn't kill the MPGs that bad IMO. Definitely a step up from the Duratracs I previously had.

I've contemplated going back to ATs, don't know what I'd get though.

Also, while we're having a beneficial discussion in here, does anyone know anything about Trail Gear ExoShield winch line? I'm in need of new winch line this year, and the idea of having the entire winch line wrapped appeals to me.

I thought the C rated tires when I looked them up were for 15" rims?

I gotta agree with Sean, the AT Open Country is not the best in the snow and ice. Don't get me wrong I haven't been stuck ever but it could be better. With the stiffness of the tire itself there isn't much moving or flex of it and you don't get as much traction as you could. When it is warm out they are great but I only wheel in AZ once a year...

the tires were at 15PSI and not much buldge unless I was on something... ha ha jeep problems

Toyo Open Countries - Shite in the snow, treacherous bordering on death waiting to happen on ice.
Duratracs - Soft which is great for the traction but wears stupid quick on pavement, can't take rebar to the side wall, I mean what the hell.
KO2s - No personal experience, but based on reviews and reports from people I know with them, they'll be the next tire I try.

I really wish the KO2 came in a 255/85r16. Been debating jumping to 17" wheels just to get the 34x10.50

I probably would have gone with the KO2's if they were available when I last got tires, but now that I've had the ST MAXX for over a year it's going to be hard for me to switch back. They're the quietest AT tire I've ever had and perform better in wet/snow than the BFG KO's they replaced. My only complaint is that they pull slightly to the right on my truck, but otherwise the ST MAXX have exceeded all of my expectations.

+1 for the KO2's. I've only had them 15K miles but I loves them. They do great in the snow on the street, and in the deep snow on the trails. Yeah they are load E but I don't notice any extra road noise from the stock tires. The side walls are also extremely tough.

Yeah, even after the last tire rotation they still pulled to the right.

Ours is in use. Or I should say my roommates since it's not mine. And while he pretty much never uses it any more, I don't think he'd part with it. Might I suggest http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=5638 I guess in looking on Amazon they're not much more or about the same price. But everything we've ever gotten from there has always been cheap and reliable.

That's been my problem as well. I wanted to go 255/85, but forget that unless you get an MT. Then like you said, for 16s even the 32s (265/75) are all Es. Now I think I've all but decided on the KO2s in 235/85. They're a little lighter (even compared to my current 265/75 Ds) and can be quite a bit cheaper. I've talked to two people so far that are running them and like them. One of whom is on here.

That typically indicates an alignment issue. Have you tech add more cross caster leading left. Usually I go for 30minutes cross caster with even camber.

This. I'm rocking the toyo RT and they suck ballz in the snow and ice. Dangerous actually. They are great in rocks and gravel!

Defconbrix was ranting and raving about how great they were in all conditions including snow and ice, but I think he was saying all that for promotional purposes.
