Saw this at the store..,. TRD sport with Off Road wheels. Also seems to sit lower than normal TRD's I've seen, maybe different suspension on top of it? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1455648337.611706.jpg

I think it's a TRD Sport badge on a base SR5. Note the chrome bumper and black door handles and since it's a DCLB it can't be an TRD OR.

    Although SR5 isn't a base level trim.

It does say SR5 on the tailgate so...

I don't have a problem with the OR wheels on there but if your going to pose as a TRD Sport at least take off the SR5 badge. haha.

You can have an SR5 TRD OR DCLB if it's not 4x4...I thought.

Thinkin color matched door handles are an option or trim level higher than SR5. My 08 SR5 had black door handles and side mirrors but does have color matched flares. Either way the OP pic is poser truck.

My understanding is that it goes base(SR), SR5, TRD Sport or OR, Limited. 2WD or 4WD does not matter.

Correct, SR5 has black door handles and mirrors, color matched flares, and chrome rear bumper/grill surround.

:notsure: Strange. The Chrome rear bumper and chrome grill surround has always been part of what sets the SR5 apart.

Edit* Just noticed you have a 2014...that would be the SR not the SR5. Base model sport package with color matched rear bumper, handles, grill surround, and mirrors with turn signals, PLUS smoked headlights and black Baja wheels. That would be why. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

OP is simply an SR5 DCLB w/ the alloy wheel option that someone slapped a TRD Sport sticker on the side.

Also in the history of the 2nd gens... there has never once been any TRD off road ever made in a DCLB config, 2 or 4wd.

I have some sr5 bedside stickers with the font like TRD but not sure I wanna go with them. Mine is completely debadged except the sr5 on the tailgate. Not that I'm saying an SR5 ever came with those. Scored them from someone on here that used to do stickers.

No it is base then SR. The SR has color matched grill and side mirrors and fenders but has a more simple standard package than an SR5. the reason some TRD have SR5 is because TRD is a package in addition to the SR5 package. Some dealers put the SR5 badge on a TRD and some don't. An SR5 can have base.

At least the 2015 SR they had when I bought my SR5 had body color mirrors. Maybe its an opition. And every member with an SR on Tacoma whose picture I've seen has color side mirrors.

Interestingly the SR dose have the same mirriors as the TRD Sport. How you spot a base from an SR is the base will have black fenders and black mirrors and won't have window tint(unless the owner had tint added). Of course it will have the basic pattern wheels.

Our local Toyota dealership does this same thing.
They dress up lower models (mainly used trucks) then tries to sell them for more money.
It's possible that the owner doesn't know the difference.

austin21 has an SR not an SR5 I just looked at your pics. Lol did you pay SR5 pricing? I don't think it is a massive difference maybe 2 or 3 hundred.

The 3rd Gen has different packages so what is an SR now is different. With the 2nd Gens basically the SR has the look of the TRD Sport sans hood scoop and other TRD specific upgrades. The SR5 looks like a TRD Off Road sans well nothing cosmetic.

The SR is for buyers who want the no chrome look.
