My old boss (VP of construction) is still driving his 99' Z71 with around 200k. Aside from a tranny replacement/ rebuild, the only other work involved wear items (brakes, ball joints, etc.). He doesn't want to get rid of it because it runs so well. All of his employees are driving new/ newer trucks too.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it", was his mentality. Great for vehicles, not for business in a changing economy.

He said there are new torsion keys, aftermarket UCA, procomp shocks (lame), and new up and lower ball joints all around. 4wp hooked him up I bet that only cost $4,000 there haha. He is asking way above book I should be able to get it around 9k we will see.

Great thanks, I don't think that Chevy will have a problem with weight like that, I was worried I needed to get a 3/4 ton.

@ian408 looks like you went off the pavement this weekend. I always see your truck in pristine condition but not this morning! For once my truck is cleaner than yours driving by your clean truck every day is actually the reason why I washed my truck yesterday.

I did yes, there are 2 in Petaluma and neither will respond, one I can see is reading my texts but won't respond haha. Those year Duramax are good if you replace the injectors. It would be nice to have the extra power of the diesel, the only thing I'm worried about is the 3/4 ton is soooo much bigger.

So there is no strut in front? Just a torsion and shocks?
He may have the stock keys still, I would prefer it to be stock.

This one looks promising too, access cab not a true 4 door, but it's still easier to access the rear then it is on my tacoma with non sliding seats haha.

Well that makes it much cheaper when I replace the shocks with OEM replacement kings haha.

id buy that GMC over the chevy. I prefer the upgraded interior and the console. Plus those half doors open on both sides.

good part is you can swap over to an 4L80 which would be solid. Although you can buy a rebuilt 4l60 for cheap

I'm thinking of installing some flush mount LED lights in my rear bumper to help see at night backing up. Have any of you guys had experience with the cheap Amazon ones? I have two blitzpro 6" bars, but can't find a good place to install them that won't get ripped off I do any light wheeling.

If you're just using them for back up lights, anything will be fine. Agreed in that there really isn't anywhere where you can mount the blitzpros back there. The flush mounts will work, just make sure you have clearance behind the bumper.

Back up lights do work a ton though. I couldn't see anything in the camera without them (at night).

All this got me thinking, before I had a back up camera, I was a lot better at backing up into places, or just in general. I've become a little dependent on it at some times where I used to be able to know my limits a lot better. Kinda like how my navigational sense was a lot better before GPS came out. But I digress.

Is it a stock bumper? If it is, you'll need shims as the stock bumper (o5-15) is slightly canted.
