Anyone else having this problem? I turn the a/c on, and it will turn off on its own. Sometimes it'll turn off in 30 min, or 30 sec as shown in the video below. Taking it to the dealer this week - really annoying as the truck is only 2 weeks old.

Whoa, that sucks. I leave my AC on all the time and never seen this. I hope they don't have to rip out the dash to investigate.

There's another thread about this problem. I don't remember if there was an easy fix to it. Id take it back to the dealer.

Do you need to know, or care?
Try turning the passenger temp down after it shuts off and see if it comes back on again.

My dealer told me about this issue but I have not had the ac on yet in 5000 miles of driving. Take it in.

Truck has been at the dealer for 3 hours, they were able to duplicate the issue, but have no solution. They've opened a service ticket with Toyota, however were unable to receive support today due to President's Day. Truck will be staying overnight and they'll work on it tomorrow once they can troubleshoot with Toyota.

    Sucks...

So far, about 75-90 degrees out. I can't recall if it shut off by itself in the morning on my way to the gym...around 55-65 degrees...

Just got off the phone with Tustin Toyota. The A/C Compressor has a short, apparently Toyota Corp. is aware of this issue and has seen it in my particular model (DCSB, Sport, 4X4). No fix for it - dealer ordered a new A/C Compressor, should be in this afternoon and truck should be ready to pick-up tonight.

Never have experienced this with a Toyota before...at least they're making it right and it's a warranty item. Although it did suck to drive home from Palm Desert on Sunday with no A/C - especially since we're getting 90 degree heat it SoCal at the moment...

Wanted to keep the TW Community posted - hopefully this doesn't happen to you.

How is there no fix? Replace the compressor if there is a short in it

    Did you read my post?

They can't fix it, so they're replacing it.

I'll try to remember and ask the service rep. this evening when I pick it up.

I sold new Hondas in the mid nineties. Especially back then...they were supposed to be bulletproof. I had a New Civic and Accord both snap a timing belt with less than 500 miles on them... Weeks apart. Different customers. Doesn't mean all Accords and Civics are bad. Just happens.... I saw GM let issues happen over and over again. The ignition switch issues started in 2003 ... Every 3 Rd car had the issue. GM didn't fix those until almost 10 years later and continued to make the faulty parts.

Point being... Stuff happens even with Toyota. First year is the worst year with a body change. Mercedes to Kia... First year vehicles have more problems

Hey OP, Seems you are taking this well - and thank God it's not a huge mechanical issue like what silverbugeye listed above.

I took expected good quality with Toyota - being as this is my first new Toyota, but there are many QC issues that i've found. Stuff that I never saw in my new WRX or Honda's. I honestly don't think it's so much the design of the vehicle, but rather poor assembly and slightly cheaper parts.

Incorrect. I've posted this about 5 times already, but here you go. Actual data on Toyota Tacomas and reported issues.
