I'm good. just had some personal shit that kept me busy and off the forum. didn't do much save work, eat, and sleep... things are a little better now, but lets just say... I have 52824hours left on Active duty... cannot wait to retire from this BS.

I did make one run up the plane wreck trail solo... in October I think... saw me a barrr...

no don't do that... people get pissed.

but they do love a good discussion on what Oil to run...

    Twas a joke... haha.

I just see what the oil cap says. Mine sees -30 to 120. Never a problem. It shouldn't vary greatly unless you live north of the arctic circle or in Quatar...

    Lockhartt Basin in June? lol

Jake, I would get the upgraded 2 piston calipers and get everything else stock off the shelf, upgraded pads and rotors work well for racing but don't help much elsewere.

I'm running 285/75-16 Terra Grapplers. Excellent on road. Descent off road at 15-20psi. Terrible in ice/snow. For daily driving I've been happy with them but I don't have a whole lot of confidence on snow/ice with them. Definitely going with something different before next winter.

    :lalala:

Any mud terrain specific tread is gonna be questionable on the ice and snow. Siping is a must and careful attention to pressure should be followed as well. If you buy them knowing that and drive accordingly, you will be just fine.

All terrain's will be a better choice for most daily use, and quite frankly for the majority of the trails around here they are more than adequate. They usually have a lot of siping in the tread as well as a smaller tread pattern which produces more tread psi contact.

They just don't look as cool as a mud terrain.:p

An exception to that might be the BFG All Terrain, I think this tire is useless, there is a reason it's offered as a stock tire on a lot of new vehicles.

If you really want to drive like an ass on the snow and ice, you better get studs. At the very least get tires with the little snow flake on the side.

Yeah well they aren't a mud terrain, and they are supposed to do decent in the ice and snow, but they are pure shit in those conditions compared to even my old duratracs.

They are supposed to be an AT, but just don't do too well in ice/snow. It's nice knowing you assume I drive like an ass too, pretty interesting. Definitely doesn't help if you don't know how to drive in certain conditions. Lesson is, I took a risk when buying a new model of tire and took advice from someone who got a discounted set. Oh well. Coopers up next

 chill dude. Was not my intent to offend you, and I wasn't implying you drive like an ass, I said if you want to drive like an ass. I drive like an ass myself if that helps.

    Don't you run 35's?
Contact patch has a lot to do with traction on everything. Even if you aren't any wider than a 33, you still have more contact patch on the road surface which means you are more likely to slide on the ice. Skinny, not too tall tires, are the winners on the ice and snow.

I have a strong dislike for BFG A/T, awful at a lot. The "new" design is almost offensive to anyone who has seen a tire before. Changing the sidewall makes a new tire?

FWIW, I don't think @BDN meant any harm by his comment, Noah. He's one of the most helpful guys in this thread and would help anyone with anything he could.
I think you may have perceived his response incorrectly, as that's not Brett's personality.

I'm convinced they are offered stock on Jeeps, and for a while on the Defenders, because nobody really buys them. So the dealerships scoop up the unwanted surplus and they get worked off that way. Didn't they even come on Toyota's for a few runs?
