I kept the stock springs. My objective was to improve the ride while retaining stock height/rake.

Two, separate Toyota parts departments assured me the '15 & '16 Tacos used the same part, meaning their tethers were the same length. My fuel door had two small holes. One was taken up by the tether and the other was a little closer to the latch so I moved the tether to the hole closer to the latch. I would have responded sooner, but I was drinking an excessive amount of coffee at Panera Bread and then I replaced my OEM carpeted floor mats with some Husky Liner X-ACT CONTOUR mats. I already had the back mat, just had to wait on the front mats. I've had WeatherTechs in all my vehicles prior so I can't do an honest comparison yet.
Prior to my '16 TRD DCSB I owned a '12 TRD DCSB and a '15 TRD DCSB so I'm not a johnny-come-lately to the Tacoma arena. I'm also not trying, in any way, to start a Gen 2 vs. Gen 3 debate, which is unwinnable...

First some pros about the '16:

It's a better looking truck than either my '12 or '15, imo. The '12 was Barcelona Red Metallic and the '15 was Blue Ribbon Metallic. My '16 is Quicksand, just fyi.

It rides quieter than either Gen 2 Taco.

It came stock with better tires, heated mirrors, and heated seats.

The grill is easier to remove

Unfortunately that isn't a very long list.

Now the cons:

The '16 get worse mileage than either Gen 2 I owned. Ever. I also owned them from new.

The relocation of the emergency brake from the floorboard to the center console, and the resultant reduction in size of the center console was a major step in the WRONG direction, imo.

The sunroof was part of the package for the truck I wanted and HAD to be taken as part of the package. IMO a sunroof on a truck is as useful as tits on a boar. It should be a separate, optional item at the very least. Again, imo.

Because of the sunroof, the overhead console area was totally redesigned. And not for the better. Get rid of the sunroof and you get rid of the two sunroof switches. This would allow the traction control off switch and the rear locker switch to be located back to the dash area. Then get rid of crawl control. Crawl control is another item that should be a specific, special-order item only. Once that is done there would once again be room for sunglass holders. A MUCH more useful use of this space.

The rearview mirror on the dash is once again too low. Unfortunately the Immryo mirror riser bracket, which I had installed in my '15, won't work with the '16.

The cubby on the left side of the steering wheel is a complete waste. How could Toyota NOT come up with a better use for this area of the dash?…

The drivers seat is WAY too high and isn't nearly as comfortable as either of my Gen 2 seats were. I'm of average height, right at 5'11", and although my head doesn't hit the roof the hair on the top of my head constantly rubs against the headliner and that drives me insane. To the point I've caught myself driving with my head tilted so my hair won't rub the headliner.

Even this TRD did not come with HomeLink in the rearview mirror. WHAT THE HECK. THIS IS A NO BRAINER. This should be a standard item.

I don't blame anyone except myself for trading my '15 for this '16. I know as time goes on there will be more aftermarket items made available for the '16, but my dislikes can't be changed by a simple aftermarket part change. IMO Toyota is trying to make the Tacoma more "car-like" in the interior and in driving. I need a truck for truck purposes and this mid-size "truck" isn't really meant for the farm/ranch/country. Again all this is my opinion.
It's also unfortunate that I was preparing to modify my '15 in a manner that would eliminate three of the items in the pro list. I was going to install 4Runner heated mirrors, aftermarket seat heating elements, and install sound deadening throughout the cabin (which would no doubt have provided a quieter ride than the '16).

I hope the '16 grows on me, but if it doesn't I'm well aware of my options. Again, I am not trying to start a Gen2/Gen3, which is better debate. I was just answering your question.

If I had the money, and I was a heck of a lot smarter, I should have kept my 2010 FJC and bought an old, beater pickup for my truck needs. Hindsight is always 20/20...

I agree with a lot of what you said but I LOVE my 2016. HUGE jump from my 2006.

Recently purchased a TRD OR DCSB in MGM! Dealer was great and gave me a ludicrous deal on my 2006.
Getting Katzkin, PPF, predators and tint done next week.

Installed WeatherTech mudflaps, Salex console organizer, Rhino seat belt extenders (no dinging!), JDM ASTAR 800 reverse lights and interior LED lights... Before after/side by side LED pics below.

Already removed badges... took about 2 minutes per badge....
1- halogen shop light (see pic below, better/safer than hair dryer or heat gun)
2- fishing line
3- 3M adhesive remover
4- meguiars spray detailer
