Took my 2016 TRD OR to dealer for first service.....About week after service I noticed my front skid plate was missing.....hum......
I know skid plate has to be removed to change oil but they didn't change oil but I believe they did change oil filter cartridge. So I'm assuming they left off skid plate or someone swiped it off my truck. Yes, truck came from factory with front skid plate.
What bums me more is if they did forget to replace skid why wouldn't they contact me to explain when they found it at end of day. It's's not like they didn't have my contact info.....

Drag dude, no pun intended, maybe you can get them to spring for the new 17 version as a replacement...

Hate to play devil's advocate, but..

    - If they didn't change the oil, they didn't change the oil filter. That just doesn't make sense.
    - How do you know someone didn't steal your skid plate prior to bringing to service?
    - How do you know someone didn't steal your skid plate after bringing to service?
    - If you see a mechanic's bay (and how little space they have) and how they are only assigned 1 job at a time, it's pretty obvious if they forgot to remount a big skid plate. Seems very unlikely that they would forget.

Yes, it's possible it was just stolen....I mentioned that in original post. I need to double check this but I believe oil filter cartridge change is on first visit and I'm assuming that since skid plate has to be removed to change oil it also has to be removed to change filter but I could be wrong.

The "build sheet" will show all the "stuff" if the plate is part of that "stuff" you have a case.
Start with the service manager and work your way to the owner. If that doesn't work, call a local TV station. The dealership won't like that but it might get your plate back. = Some guy working in the shop needed it OR was too lazy to put it back on. I's bet on the later

Ask the service manager to ask the tech if they recall removing the skid plate. If the answer is it was not on the truck your probably outta luck and it was probably stolen before hand and you just noticed it.

Dog friendly, with dog snot on inside windows, with of course a/c! Mag 16 inch wheels from a Mazda.
Don't get paranoid, they do this alot. I had a transmission replaced in my Versa, and they had propped it up against the wall. Most likely it's still their and the mechanic just waiting for someone to come back to get it. Be grateful he did leave off the filter or drain plug!

    This ^^

Even if they did remove it, there is nothing to say it wasn't stolen afterward. All you can really do is politely ask and be prepared for bad news. At least there are reasonable options for replacement.

1 car at a time? Its not uncommon for me to have 4-5 waiters in at the same time.

I deleted some threads in here. If this is going to turn into a troll fest, by all means, have at it. Its the best way we can identify them, and remove them from the site.

Yeah...after what...Sunday or Monday's fiasco and ban fest in tire changing thread I've been trying to be on my Sunday best behavior. I make some fun comments (at least in my mind) but do my best to avoid hurtful malicious comments, but those may just go out the door in 3rd Gen section with the sensitivity issues we are experiencing.

    Back on topic...
Hopefully the dealership does have the plate. I come from low cars so having a truck sit up so high, I can see how easily it can be a pick and pull for thieves.

Not sure if it was omitted at the factory but that would seem hard to prove. Never hurts to ask...maybe you will get lucky and get a new one without paying.

From experience the 5k mile check does not include an oil change. First one is 10k.

It may have gone on the next truck in. It would not be an evil move but hay what's this plate still sitting here. The holes would be there on the next truck right???

How does one go a week and not notice a relatively important part is not affixed to your truck anymore? I got my tires changed today and I gave the truck a walkaround to make sure there were 6 lugs on each wheel, centercaps were there, no obvious damage to the body, etc - it is just a good habit to have.
