    I bought my cap without any research and being a little cheap, I didn't want any extras. I was basically ignorant to my future needs, I focused on getting the shell itself and mounting a set of Thule racks I already had. Would have loved to read the "show me your shell" thread first but I wasn't even on TW at the time. Live and learn.

    Starting to play with ideas and material for my fishing pole rack. I have found my original idea will not work with the hoops as I thought.. Threw further research I've come across some Austrailian rigs that have rod holders and their concept is growing on me. So I'm going to work something up like this

    Also, the Thule racks I've had forever are becoming weak. The rivets that hold the foot together are loosening up and I'm getting a bad rattle over the cap while driving. Plan on doing an overhaul of the mounts, feet, and crossbars to put the basket back on. First piece to come in was the Thule mounting track. To be honest I should have went this route from the beginning.

    Xactly. But I like to get involved coming up with dimensions, so I grabbed an aluminum plate yesterday for $6 and will break down and reuse an old rod holder to come up with something like this
