I realize this is a truck and the ride quality will be like a truck, but I noticed that the rear seemed pretty harsh when hitting normal bumps and such.

I went under the rear and put a wrench on the leaf mounting points front and rear (shackle). Both rear bolts on the shackles were lose. Is that normal?

I downloaded the file below and decided to torque them properly but that is pretty disturbing if Toyota shipped these trucks with the suspension not torqued properly. Any input or feedback is welcome.

The front bolts of each leaf were tight.

I think they leave them loose as a feature because they know everyone will replace the shit springs. LOL. Sigh.

To answer your question, if they are not torqued to manual spec, that is not normal. Unless the manual is wrong. Which has happened before. But 120 seems about right.

Did you happen to experiment with your torque wrench to estimate what value they had been torqued to?

This is pretty disturbing. Now I'll need to go check mine. Can't wait to replace.

Thanks for the reply - I was not able check the initial torque because when I put force on the wrench I was not anticipating them to move and they did so I could not tell.
I am wondering if the dealer did anything to the truck before I took possession and you know if it was warranty - they had a lacky on the job to save themselves $$.

It doesn't surprise me that it surprised you when you put the wrench on them.
