His hourly labor is pretty cheap. Under seventy bucks I'd say for just that. We are going to do mine on Thursday along with a couple of other things we have been working on.

I "think it weighs" around three hundred, three twenty. When I pull the L-track riser off to get it powder coated I'll weigh the truck without it to have a definitive answer.

We have those on the exterior of a building at work. The side cuts are exclusive to our building and the blanks only get shipped to us. When they ran out of the master keys that came with the construction of the building (from being broken mostly), I'm told it was quite an ordeal to get more blanks. Apparently the only people originally registered with Schlage to order blanks had died years ago, so they had to prove that, prove the new people were in a position where they could do so, get a signature on file, write a letter on letterhead with a signature that matched, etc.

At least we can be pretty confident there aren't any random exterior door or master keys floating around.

What was your cost to weigh your rig at the scales? I've wanted to do that forever, but have not gotten around to it. Thanks.

Take your rig to the dump. They usually weigh you in and weight you out and you pay for the difference in weight. Thats what they do around here at some of the places where you can bring your own trailer or fill up the bed of your truck.

Just pull up, get out and take a look. You'll have to look around and find a scale somewhere, this one is pretty awesome because they leave the scale screen on and its right off a main road so pull in pull out within mins you'll know the weight and back to driving wherever. 5580 with a fulltank here with about 1-120lbs worth of jack/tools in the bed but otherwise empty. My guess loaded down for a trip is around 6-6200

That sounds quite similar to what my locksmith explained to me as well. He says that he "owns" that specific keyway - the lower set of ridges and valleys cut into the key side - and that the only person who could duplicate my keys would be him. I added a couple of family me members to the "pre-approved list," but anyone else who wants to have a key made will either have to provide proof of property purchase, or my death certificate and a copy of my will stating that they have inherited the property from me. I know that to many that seems like a lot of skull-duggery to protect a key but we think it's pretty cool and for us the "feel good factor" is worth it.

See what @ChandlerDOOM wrote below. The scale we used is at a small gravel yard. He sells by the pound and scoops it into your truck/trailer with the tractor seen in the photo. I would think that any business that deals in large quantities of loose product would have a scale available.

Good idea, I imagine that many of the large scale recyclers in Southern California would have a yard scale as well.

    Psst...

Got word that my winch is in at a local 4x4 shop, and my Factor 55 flatlink arrived at the house today along with some grip tape. I'm going to try to add some strips to the top of the slider tubes to make it easier for vertically challenged people to get into the truck.
