I was camping close to home, close to freezing was all, nice. Was able to use a couple of my old stoves and a lantern from the '20's as usual.

    Hi all
Glad to see everyone and I mean that because I almost wasn't.
Haven't been feeling to good lately.
Long story short I ended up in ICU.
Come to find out I'm the newest member of the diabetes clan.
Nurses could believe I wasn't in a coma and still cohearant.
So a whole new life started Sunday.
I'm just glad I had some great people looking after me.
So now I push the in the clutch and slip into first and ease on down the road.Back to work tomorrow and on with life.....

    Afternoon all:
Not a good clan to belong to Mike! :(
You aren't alone and it can be managed, like you said-on with life. :burnrubber:

Duane, amazing how comfy one can be with some knowledge and the proper equipment when camping. I just saw where the boy scouts were camped out at Valley Forge this past weekend in 0 deg. temps.

Mike, my wife is a type 2 diabetic and has to diet and exercise along with medication to control her diabetes. I know this will require some adjustments in your lifestyle but you have many good years ahead of you.

    Keep the chin up Mike.
Here in Kalifornia, I've been out before on my old snowmobile snow camping where it has been -3F to -4F a few times, then had to ride the few miles back to my truck after a night out. Hunker down over the gas tank and go like hell. With it being an old '84, air cooled Polaris Indy Trail 440, I had some heat coming off the engine. Having a quality Western Mountaineering down sleeping bag made it doable at night, just keep the stove going in the morning until the gear is packed. Not much snow yet where I live at just under 4,000' elev., should have had tons more by now.

Mike, I'm glad to hear you had good folks taking care of you and setting you on your new road. Like so many others have said it's a manageable condition. Carry on! I have a high school buddy who was disagnosed a few years ago. He made some pretty radical dietary changes and last I heard he is now able to manage his blood sugar without meds. He was 350lbs. and heavy drinker at the time of the diagnosis so in some ways it did him good!

Yeup.... Went to work kicked ass. More energy tonight. Numbers are slowly coming down. Big shock to the system. So another day tomorrow. I hope when things get calmed down I can track the things that spike me to much. Took the dietitian advice and had a breakfast because I never do. Doubled my bad numbers and chased it all day. So maybe an apple out the door tomorrow and check that. Then I can start to get some weight back I hope.

Hope you get it figured out quickly. Maybe it was what you had for breakfast and not the fact you had breakfast :notsure:
